That flat irons at least twice a week and has mantained healthy* hair?

Anyone?

One person?

*Key phrase being healthy hair

Many Thanks,

Jae

Nope.

Now, if you mean healthy in their minds...yes:grin:. Most of the time the heat just eats away at their ends and fries their hair.

Thanks Crackers and Mondo!

Im hoping to find a pool of people who use heat more frequently than once a week whose hair is still thriving...if not then I will keep on...keeping on :look:

Twice a week is a lot for direct heat. I don't know, I know people do it every 2 weeks and even once a week. Do you have to do it twice a week???

Twice a week seems like a bit much, even if a person was careful and used a really good heat protectant. I guess trimming more often would keep the ends healthier...but that's just counterproductive IMO

I am not currently using heat twice a week or even once a week...but ohhhh Id like to try ....just give me a reason! lol!

I either bun, air dry and wear wavy or use Caruso....:ohwell:

I can rollerset without a problem BUT my hair looks all dried out post set....so Ive decided that until Im APL and can rollerset and let my curls fall I will not be setting...:nono:
What products are you using to rollerset? I rollerset when I was NL, and just finger-combed into a pretty updo.

what about brushing out the curls, wrapping it and wearing it straight?
Like roller set to straighten not to wear curls.

Flat ironing multiple times a week is the reason why my hair is breaking off like crazy right now. I don't think it is possible to do that more than a few times a month without seriouslly damaging your hair... at least not my hair.

I just use NTM leave in and thats really it..... I find being nl if I leve the curls I have a bouffant-ish situation...
I know your OP was about using heat 2x a week, but I cant help but try to talk you out of it:lachen:. My hair was exactly where you are now last year, and I had to step away from my flat iron. So I tried out almost every combo of products until I found something that left my rollersets silky and shiny. Lacio Lacio(the kind with silk protein) and a serum, right now its Chi Silk infusion. My NL sets were always on point. I could saran wrap and look like I just flat ironed it, or just pinned up the curls in a cute updo...please dont attempt to flat iron so much! It will prolong your goals!

Honestly, I think I would have to do this over night.....

i.e. Poo/co-wash, DC, roller set dry then wrap and let the wrap set overnight.... when Ive tried this in the past it was only for like an hour or two and it looks ...lol...bouffant-ish the kind you push up :perplexed LOL!

OT, Fullypersuaded7, you've made some beautiful progress. Your hair looks so pretty!

Back OT, OP, if you're pressed for time, you can try silk wrapping. Just after you rollerset, comb the curls into a wrap, put some saran wrap on it, and go back under the dryer for about 10-15 minutes. It'll take alot of the bulk out of your hair and keep it from looking so bouffant-ish.
I really don't think that using heat twice a week will be conducive to retention.

@ Fully..

I havent saran wrapped in a looonnggg time! It was when my hair was shorter though...hmmm, Perhaps this weekend I will try again! Thanks Friend :love2:

I was just going to recommend this. When I used to rollerset my hair, I would use this after shampooing and DC'ng. A lot of times I only used the Lacio Lacio and my hair shiner than ever after a rollerset. :yep:

I have to agree with everyone here. Pre LHCF I was using my flat iron almost EVERY DAY and wondering why my ends broke so much. I thought I to because my hair is short. Now I'm trying to find alternatives to the flat iron, thank God.

I often wish I'd found LHCF a long time ago. Oh well, I'm here now. :spinning:

:hijacked:Soory OP, but I had to ask: Can anyone help me find more info on Lacio Lacio? Can some one describe "roller under handed?" How does this work? Won't the hair stick up then?

Don't do it, OP. I used to think that since I didn't relax I could flat iron to my hearts content:wallbash: I came to my senses some time ago, but the [heat] damage was done. All of the Aphogee in the world wouldn't make my straight ends revert...so snippty snip...about 3-4 inches. :nono: Oh well, I'm wiser now:spinning:

I would suggest that you go up a roller size, the largest one you can secure your hair on. The larger the roller, the straighter the end result
