I am contemplating not doing ish to my hair for the summer, and I was thinking about getting braids. The only problem is that I have no idea what the hell I would be doing.

I know that the hair lady from growafrohairlong.com has a tape, but I want to make sure that $20 tape is a good investment. Anybody bought it and liked it?

I heard the tape was good. I am going to probably purchase it myself sometime in April b/c I plan on putting braids back in around June/July

I saw the tape when she was still demoing(sp?) it for free on her site. I believe what I saw and what she is marketing are one and the same tape becuase when I tried accessing it like I used to, the link led me to her buy option page instead of my realplayer. I might, however, be wrong.

It was not so clear (i.e not slow enough for a newbie). I'm a tech person (not necessarily a tech addict) but since I wanted something that was the latest tech and something that I could carry about with me and play anywhere, I sought after a dvd tape for braiding. My research led me to braids by breslin.

I bought it and really like it. The organization of the video is great, it is slow enough to pass for one of those for dummy books, a lot of repetition so you can follow, she did the whole head of hair for her client and I can play it on my laptop anywhere. It cost me approx. $25 if I'm not mistaken and I got a coupon for future purchases of her other videos. Google it up if you're interested.

Hope the above helps!

Hi there,
I bought this tape and put my hair in braids a few weeks ago (pics in my album). I think the tape is worth it (it cost literally $7.50 to braid my hair myself as opposed to the 150 + I usually pay) but it's really really low tech (cheesy to the point of being funny). But who really cares about that anyway??? I'd admire the woman's hustle. The main goal of learning how to braid was achieved and I think my first self done braids look alright (hopefully they will get better with practice). Because the technique is sooooo simple, I'm almost say to look for someone who knows how to braid to show you- be it a cousin or friend- I doubt I'm ever going to refer back to the video. I'd sell it to you but I left the tape at my parents' place. But if like me, you have no braiding friends, this tape will be great.

Does Breslin have a how-to guide on single braids, similar to the Hair Lady's?

You did a good job! I've had the tape for about a year, and I haven't used it yet, but I think I want to try after I take my current braids out.
