I am still trying to get some boldness and wear a wash and go to work. I dont want to deal with peoples reactions right now. So, I have been wearing a ponytail. I may wear one in the next two weeks. I feel my confidence building. My family did not respond well to my bc. Why do we act like hair will not grow back?

There's a guy I work with that's always joking and teasing. One day he was up on the 3rd or 4th floor and looking over the railing and I was walking thru the atrium and he was all loud like "Hey E!! I see ya got ya jheri curl all out and stuff! Looking good!" I know he knows better, but it was funny cuz that day I had used new products and DID NOT like my WnG for that very reason. I had just told my friend I looked like a Soul Glo commercial. It made my hair curl too tight. Moist and shiny though

I wore a rod set/straw set type thing( my hair is natural)to my friends birthday. I got compliments but then people were asking me if it was a curly perm! I was like Oh No!

OP, you took me back to 6th grade. I was in lunch line and these two girls were discussing my hair...one decides to tell me "my jehri curl is pretty," and the other interrupts her to say..."that's not a jehri curl, she has a lesiure curl." lol!

I was natural until 8th grade and couldn't wait to get a perm (I wanted bangs) because my hair was super curly...little did I know....I'm transitioning now...lol!

People ask me if I have a dry curl or jheri curl. When I say no they try to feel it and then they realise it can't be.

I haven't gotton asked the jherri curl question but people usually think I have a texturizer on my hair because its so curly. They dont believe black people have natural hair like mine. But back on the jherri curl, there is another natural lady at my church whose wash n go looks just like a jherri. Maybe because her curls are a little bit looser than mine.

That's the reason why I don't always want to define my curls too much and have them be too perfect, b/c then it does look a little jheri-curlish. And I've had a curl before (way back in the day ), I'm not trying to go back.

I got this a couple years ago-an older lady asked me. After I explained that it wasn't and all I have to do is wet it and put some gel in it (this was WAY before LHCF) and that's it. She looked at me all mesmerized like I was a movie star or some sh!t. I'm likeerplexed
