Is my hair shedding or breaking?

I think my hair may be shedding a lot from using growth aides. Then I read somewhere that someone hair was shedding and they had the white bulbs on the end. I don't have white bulbs on the end. they are all different lengths of hair. I have seen a few split ends but not many. I started taking garlic pills like a week ago. I'm still waiting for results. any help???

thank you for the article caribgirl. Unfortunately I think my hair is breaking, so I need to figure out how to fix that.
