Is it tacky to leave the salon with wet hair?

I'm going to get my hair trimmed on Wed. The last time I went it took several hours to wash, cut, style, and let my hair dry fully under the hood dryer. I just want to get my hair cut and bounce. Is this tacky?

:lachen: wellll, it's your hair..if that is what you want...if you just want a trim can you get someone that you trust to do it?...

nope, not taky at all. You're the customer :) You can also ask for a dry cut and skip the wash/condtion. I've done that before....

Absolutely not. I have done this several times...its actually a very liberating not having to be a slave to the stylists chair or her schedule (especially when overbooked).

I have thought about doing this. I want to just get someone to relax my hair and I do the rest, including airdry my hair.

I say "no". It's your hair.

I've gotten up and walked out with wet hair before because I was sick of waiting. (They get your hair wet and put that cape on you and think you're stuck there until they are ready to finish you up and let you leave...NOT!! I showed him!)

I would just say make sure you tell them up front that's what you're going to do and get the price so they're not charging you for all that other stuff that they aren't even doing to you!

It's not tacky at all.......... no need to go thru all the extra's if all you want is a trim.

Do you prefer your hair trimmed while wet? You can always just go for a dry trim............

I do it and see nothing wrong with it. And if anyone thinks so, that's their affair. Get your hair trimmed and go...

Absolutely Not! It's ur hair! Only have them do what you want them to do and nothing more. If they look at you funny just keep on walking past them!

Nope, not tacky. Plus you are saving money, every task costs. I agree you will save time. Let the person know upfront what you want. Don't forget to tip.

This is what I do every touch-up and my stylist is cool with it. I made sure that she wouldn't be offended by discussing it with her beforehand. Like someone else said, it is very liberating and saves time!

No it's not tacky. I see this in white salons all the time, especially the cheaper ones. A blow out is extra so most people just leave with wet hair.

Hey it's no worse than leaving with rollers in your hair which people do, 'cause they can do the styling at home themselves.

If you're worried, just bring a cute hat or scarf to cover your hair when you leave. Or just get a cut on dry hair as other suggested. This would be best IMO then you can see how your hair REALLY looks with the cut.

I've been doing it for the last 6 or 7 years. My stylist give me a touch up, I have her rollerset (with my rollers) and I leave with the rollers in my hair. I can sit under my own dryer at home. She has no problem I still pay her full touch up price of $55 but I bring my own relaxer, neutralizing poo, deep con and rollers. She as no problem with it because it frees her chair up and she still get paid.

It's not tacky. It's your hair, time and money. But i think i'd be kinda embarassed to actually do it. So what I would do is I'd make sure to have a soft scrunchee in my purse, then after I get my hair serviced and i'm sitting there waiting...I'd set my phone to ring in 10mins. I'd answer the phone, wait a few secs, hang up and then proceed to put my hair in a ponytail with my scrunchee. Then i'd pay for my services, and tell her I have a personal emergency, or an emergency at work and I have to bounce. then the next times you want to do this...I'd just be like well girl last time my hair turned out so good and straight when i airdried it in a scrunchee...so i want to do it this time too. If she insists on you staying, i'd be like well shoot I already planned to be 'wherever' in a half hour.... She'll hate that she cant get those extra dollas out of you, but WHATEVER!!! :D

  The nail shop I used to go to used to do that. If they were crowded I'd wait 30 minutes for a pedicure and as I'd get tired of waiting and they see me getting ready to leave they'd rush me over and stick my feet in a pan of water and take off my polish and leave me there another 20 minutes. Like I really couldn't slip my wet feet in my sandals and bounce. :lachen: I never did but, I coulda

I used to do this all the time after a touch-up, now I do it when I get my hair cut. Girl do you. A lot of stylists really don't mind. Its your hair and money. I don't think its tacky at all. Its smart. Saves time (both yours and the stylist's) and money. I would make sure that she knows that's the plan, ahead of time, so she doesn't book a couple of hours for you, when all she needs is 20 mins or so.
