Is it possible for hair NOT TO GROW AT ALL in the summer?

I dont think my hair is growing at all. I always wear a bun...it is too hot for anything else. I recently got a touch up, and I should have waited...I am now 4 or 5 weeks post....and I cant spot new growth..which wouldn't be bad if my hair was not shedding so freaking much..plus my ends were all damn dry... more like fried... :( I know that they say your hair grows faster in the summer but...I dont know about myself.

You know, some people said that MSM changed their new growth...made is softer and straighter... could this have happened to you?

hell...it could be!

Just be patient Bmm. Trust me, your hair is growing at this very moment. Maybe you're experiencing faster breakage on your ends and not noticing any growth. Do you keep your ends moisturized?? Maybe a good scalp massage daily with rosemary and jojoba oils will help. What I do when I start to notice my hair is shedding more than normal ,(which is normally around touchup time), I just put my hair in box braids and move on. I really don't like to mess in my hair a lot when I have a lot of newgrowth. Good luck!

Next relaxer touchup: September 5th, 2005
Hair length as of 8/11: 2 inches past brastrap
Goal for 2005: 5 inches past brastrap by Dec.

Hair grows continually and it is impossible for it not to grow. Insuffient moisturing particularly on the ends causes breakage and your hair loses any new length gained. Moisturising keeps the hair from breaking and helps it to retain length. Other people will notice any length gained before you do, because you look at your hair daily and do not notice the growth.

It sounds like you just hit the resting stage this summer. It is a process that everyone's hair goes through. See below:

Each hair follicle undergoes a cycle of activity. The hair grows to a maximum length, then hair growth ceases and the hair is shed and replaced. At any one time we only have around 85% of our hair on our head at a time, the rest being in the resting stages. The hair growth cycle has three distinctive phases:

Anagen: the period of active growth

Catagen: the period of breakdown and change

Telogen: the resting stage before resumption of growth

Don't worry your hair will start growing again!!!!

I think hair grows all the time. You may want to consider taking pics frequently to catalogue your hair growth/change.

ITA! Take pictures! I too thought my hair wasn't growing. Then I compared old and new pictures and noticed a clear difference in length.

I had this experience when I was taking msm. It would seem like my hair was not growing then after about 4 or 5 weeks after my touch up my hair would just spring up.

I think it has to do with the fact that msm causes the hair to grow in softer therefore creating the illusion that it is not growing but it really is.
