Is it me or does natural hair soak up more conditioner than relaxed?

I just became a natural and I have 7 inches of hair now. I swear I use like 2x more conditioner than I did when I was relaxed and had 12 inches of hair. What gives? Do I have porosity issues?

Im sure other ladies will chime in, but I use way more conditioner as a natural too. Most likely due to the texture and volume difference. I could use 2 tablespoons on relaxed hair. I need at least 5 tablespoons now. Just a texture thing I suppose

Yeah its texture. It takes more conditioner to get good coverage. with straight hair its easier to distribute...curly hair you have to really work it through.

Same here. My hair is so much thicker of course so now I have to use more to make sure it gets in there. I remember cowashing my hair for the first time as a complete natural. I had like 4 inches of hair and I kept having to go back for more conditioner. I thought I was doing something wrong.

Yeah. My hair is very think, so I use a lot of conditioner. As it gets longer it becomes wider so I need a tube and a half of deep condish,

When I was natural I went through loads of conditioner...I think it was the volume and texture.

Six months of newgrowth say yes. I can use 2/3 of a bottle for my pre-poo. It got to be so much, I started buying liters, smh.

Yes as a natural I use tons of conditioner! When I was relaxed I used a lot less and I would shampoo once or twice a week.

I used to go through TONS of conditioner as a loose natural. I would sometimes add v05 (one of my holy grails) to the more expensive ones to stretch.

My conditioner budget is insane. I'm thinking of only using conditioner that I can get in liter size or more, because I hate having to constantly stock up.

I definitely use way more conditioner as a natural than I did when I was relaxed, but I can also get away with co-washing with VO5 cheapies most of the week rather than going through the full prepoo/poo/con and/or dc cycle as often. It's been worth the extra conditioner for me!
