Is It Just Me? Or, Does Anyone Else Save Empty Product Bottles/Tubs?

I started saving bottles when I switched a leave-in conditioner out to a spray bottle. I saved the bottle so I would have the ingredients list and benefit claims.

I realized it was beneficial to save old bottles when I was able to transfer the contents of my Motions Moisture Plus tub, into an old Suave Tropical Coconut conditioner bottle. The bottle protects it from contamination.

Now I have a problem throwing empty hair product bottles away. I always think I'm going to need them for something. I only have a few now, but, this could be a real problem later. Am I the only one?

P.S. I didn't toss the empty MMP tub either. It's washed and sitting my my bathroom cabinet.

I put some infusium in a conditioner bottle that I had laying around....I didn't intentionally save it but I am glad that I did.

I save the tubs from the Fantasia gel. I might need them for mixing at some point. Everything else I throw out.

I just started saving old bottles this week, but they all have a purpose and are labeled appropriately so that I don't forget what I am saving them for.

I just started saving them too. I only save the bottles from the products that I like. My purpose is to remember what worked well so that I know what to repurchase. I try new products so often I forget what worked well. Sometimes I will find myself looking for the perfect conditioner, shampoo, etc. completely forgetting what I had been using.

Yeah, I save bottles and jars too. I have a whole bag of them. I usually only save the jars I get from products I buy online like butters, oils, handmade stuff. They always have the nicest convenient bottles and jars w/o all that writing and stuff on it.

At first, I was saving every old bottle because I'm such a PJ that I considered them trophies for actually finishing a whole container of something...but I started to get too many shampoo/conditioner bottles on top of jars and spray bottles. Now, I just keep a few empty conditioner bottles, all of my empty jars and spray bottles and nozzle-y bottles (like the kind WGO come in).

Ladies, I'm glad it isn't just me.

I've been telling my self I'm saving them to remember what works or for my own concoctions, like that coconut hair smoothie someone posted about a month or so ago. But, I think the bolded reason is why I'm REALLY keeping them. :lachen:

I'm glad you were able to cure yourself of this facet of PJ'ism. There is hope for me!

i kept some jars from the Curls/Curly Q Milkshake & Custard...that's how I realized they kept changing ingredients:perplexed...I'm glad I did though, because it has my dominican conditioner cocktail. So now I can mix a lot of ingredients & store for next time, instead of having to mix a fresh batch each time I want to deep condition. The other bottles I kept are the big Ion conditioner pump containers..one was the reconstructer, the other was the moisturizing, each has a combo of conditioners either for protein or moisture co washes.

I don't save empty bottles. If I finish a product I usually mix up a concoction to put in it right away, if not, it gets tossed. I have diluted setting lotion in an old s-curl bottle and a moisture mix in an old Pantene spray bottle...that's about it. I'm trying to declutter my life, not add to it.:yep:

ETA: I label the bottles with a Sharpie so I don't forget what's in them. I do this with my store bought spray bottles as well.

Uh, yeah...cured...:look:

I have a bottle that I squeeze my ORS paks into so that I can pretend they came in that bottle instead of having all those paks that I keep on buying lying around. I put on the label from a bottled sample of the stuff that I got a while ago. The whole thing looks like it came that way. Crazy, huh?

No I don't. I have so much stuff I don't know where I'd put them if I had to keep empty bottles. I dont' want my roommate to notice I'm starting to use her cabinet for storage :look:

I saved an old Motions Moisture Plus tub with lid for mixing hennas and an old Doo Gro Mist bottle for spraying amla lite oil.

But I usually throw stuff out.

Are you my mother?

I don't have that problem. But I think I will start to save some bottle I think I can use.

I used to but I recently stopped because they take up more space than I care for. I have plastic containers that use for mixing conditioners if I need to do that.

I thought I was the only one,. I have about 10 empty contaianers in the closet right now. I love to mix some of my hair stuff when i get to the end of them so they serve that purpose.

I save empy FNWL butter containers, hair oil bottles, and I saved a cholestoral tub and put my own mix of leftover/unwanted conditioners to make a pre-poo cocktail.

Are you my mother?

No , but I do believe the problem is hereditary. I also horde food, like one of my aunts. My Mom thinks I'm nuts. :lachen:

I've been eying a jar of Queen Helene Cholesterol at Sallys. I'm perfectly happy with Proclaim Cholesterol, but, QH's comes in a pump jar. I have plans for that pump jar. :look:

It's so nice to have friends.

This is just what I do, too. I get a lot of oils from Hair2Heaven and those I save and put in amla, vatika, evoo, or my own oil blends. Pokahontas is right. They have the best containers. The oils have smooth applicator tips that I love. I save jars to mix conditioner cocktails, too.

I was saving a lot of empty bottles. I realized that I had way too many when I was at my friend's house and told him not to touch my empty used up bottles that I there, in case I got the urge to mix something up for my hair. :gorgeous: Yeah, I wash my hair there, too. :yep: One day, he showed me just how many bottles I had collected at his place. So, they had to go. I still keep some, but not as many as previously. I go through conditioners fast. Usually, I can get 3 uses out of a bottle, depending on the size.

I save the Lustrasilk tubs because you can pull off the labels nicely!

I also like the St Ives Apricot Scrub and Cetaphil lotion tubs and St Ives Shower Gel Bottles - not hair care products but, again the labels just slide right off!!

I also save my Qhemet's tubs. The Labels don't peel off easily, but those tubs are perfect!!!

I use these for my mixes, as well as for storing smaller quantities of big tubs of conditioners that I buy. I also use them for giving mixes to others. My mom is always having me mix things up for her - BUT I GET MY TUBS BACK!
