not stretch and stay on your regular perm schedule without using as much heat?

 Hard question... I'll try to help, but I need a little bit more information

What's your regular perm cycle?

How long are you try to stretch?

Are you experiencing excessive breakage?

Do you have enough new growth to avoid over lapping if you perm?

Is your hair more tolerable of moderate heat or chemicals?

How often w/you apply heat?

Can you apply heat to the new growth only?

i perm every 6 weeks
i want to stretch to 12
no breakage and i am at 8 weeks almost
i have enough hair not to overlap
my hair is pretty tolerant to heat and chemicals since i have been taking care of it
i do heat twice a month (anytime i have a long weekend off)
i can maybe do heat to newgrowth only but how is that better and what do you do with the rest of the hair

It's up to you of course, but I trade a little heat styling for an extra 2-3 weeks stretch. I am up to 11 weeks now. Here are the precautions I take:
1) I use a heat protectant (chi silk infusion) and am very generous in applying it. I apply it to my hair wet, and again when it's dry.
2) I use a Solia ceramic flat iron set to around 275 degrees. My stylist recommended this temperature for me, I haven't had any problems with it yet. The goal is to smooth out the new growth, not press it bone straight, so this temp is fine.
3) I only flat iron 1x a week after deep conditioning with a protein conditioner. During my last stretch I used neutral Hennalucent a couple of time and that product loosened up my new growth noticeably.

Good luck with your stretch, a little heat won't hurt as long as you are careful with it.

Bump.... I wanna know too

I recently co washed, wrapped and dried overnight and flat ironed just the roots in the morning. My hair came out great. I too used chi silk infusion to protect my hair and I set my flat iron on the first level (1 or of 30). I only did enough to smooth my roots and I had no breakage or anything.
