I need to get growing. I hate buns, but if others are having success, I think I can try it while I'm out of school for winter break.

When I was doing it all the time, my ends were healthier, and I didn't trim, so I had MAJOR growth. Now I've been slacking off, and my ends are looking a little bad. I'd say it is beneficial.

Yes, I believe that the ends benefit a whole lot with buns. I havent had a trim in about 4 months and I still have my trim line. To me, this is amazing. My ends have never been in such good condition in my life because in the past I was always so careless. But I made a vow to this bun challenge and Im stickin to it. Try it Karonica, you wont regret it

If you use the fake buns, does that help? Also, what kind of ponytail holder should one use-the satin kind?

Usually, I don't use any kind of elastic or ponytail holder...when I do, I use the ones by scunchi that are continuous bands of fabric.

My hair has grown much since I started this challenge. I haven't measured it yet though. I'm looking forward to flat-ironing my hair (when I learn how) so I can really see the length! My ends are always so soft and the rest of my hair has never been so moisturized. If you can find a bun style that looks great too, then it's easy to stay on this challenge.

I started wearing protective styles in May (mainly the wet bun thingy) and have retained over three inches. It grew longer than this but I had a scissor-happy stylist who cut almost an inch of my hair off in August. I didn't have any split ends so why did she cut?

i'll save that for another post.

You can put your hair in a bun and put the phonypony on top. Soon as I find the right color, that's what I'm going to do.

I'm definitely going to have a hard time with finding the right color. My roots are black (about 4 inches worth) and the rest is about a color 30. I want to have the straight kind of ponytail that hangs low, not the high one. Oooh, I can't wait.

Exactly.

Im a firm believer in the bun. in jan i cut my hair due to bleach breakage. it was around chin length. the front was only 3 inches long. Currently Im two inches from brastrap and the front of my hair is now a little below my chin. All in less than a year.

I use the phonny pony, karonica you wont be disappointed. i stop using heat completely and just slick my hair back wet and use the baggie method and put the fake pony over it. the other day when I was slicking my hair back and getting ready to put the baggie on my BF said that i no longer have a loney tail I have a real ponytail now. I have tried everything but nothing compares to just leaving my hair alone and wearing a fake pony. I thnik thats the better one because your ends are completely covered.
