Is anybody here on a high protein diet just for their hair?

If so, what foods are you eating? I'm trying to do the egg thing but what else? I don't really wanna do the whey protein thing.

I regularly eat a high protein diet, not just for my hair. But I eat eggs, fish (salom, tilapia, flounder, etc.) sea food (mussels, shrimp, crab), plain yogurt, nuts, fresh mozzarella, edamame (boiled and lightly salted soy beans), sushi etc.

HTH!

Thanks....

My new diet is very similar but I'm doing it because I'm on the head to toe challenge and want to lose a couple of pounds. I eat nuts, white fish, and other white meat (mainly chicken). I'm hoping this will negate the need for protein treatments (conditioner or lite) at all.

At first, I used to eat high protein products for my hair. Now I do it for overall health. I eat a ton of beans and brown rice. Protein Bars (Kashi); protein shakes (at least 15g protein per serving); eggs and Egg Beaters Mixture; almonds and sunflower seeds.

I think fruits and vegetables are very important too!

ITA :yep: and I eat some of the same things.

I've been wanting to do it, but I've never been consistent. I do eat eggs occasionally. I really want to incorporate eggs and tuna into my daily diet.

Over the past month I have started eating a lot more protien than I used to, for overall wellbeing and to help shed some weight.

I drink protein shakes (such as the 'Body for life' ones, and Myoplex - both of which taste very nice), lots of salmon and haddock (my fave fish), nuts, eggs, chicken, and some dairy (not so much of that as milk isn't too friendly with my stomach  ).

Why don't you want to do whey protein? Just curious.

I eat lots of protein for overall health. Chicken, turkey, tuna, tofu, whey protein, low fat cheese, eggs, and almonds. I've been doing this consistently for over a month now, and I think my hair has grown a little more than it typically does - it's kind of early to tell, though.

Bc I'm not too fond of mixing things into foods or drinks. Makes me feel like I'm taking medicine and it's more like a chore. I'd rather just eat the high protein foods.

I understand. It can be a pain.:)

I Love smoothies! I buy the unflavored protein powder and make diffrent flavors using VFusion Juice as a base. This way I get at least 26g protein, a fruit, and a veggie serving and a treat for overall health.

I am! I think dlewis and marie170 are too. I eat turkey bacon (like 9g per slice) eggs, cottage cheese, chicken, protein bars, tuna and kashi cereals. I do the shake thing too!

I bought a huge tub chocolate Whey Protien mix and small personal-serving blender from Walmart - which works great to make a frozen (protien) shake!

This is the easiest way I found to add protein (but not calories) to my diet.

The mix tastes GREATwhen mix with milk!

Ladies that eat a lot of eggs as part of their diet, remember to rotate eating whole eggs with just eggs whites. Whole eggs are VERY high in cholesterol, while egg whites are not.

What I do is I'll do one whole Egg, one egg white, and that's my breakfast. And on days when I just want a light breakfast I'll have just 2 egg whites. Just be careful, sacraficing your heart health is not worth any of the benefits a high protein diet can provide.

I eat higher amounts of protien in my diet than I guess you can say the average joe. I eat the chicken, fish, turkey, lean beef, beans, whole wheat pasta, spelt, quinoa, but I do eat alot of lowfat cheese for my hair since it is high in cystiene. I also drink protien shakes and eat zone and luna bars.

I eat a lot of protein for hair and health. I eat a lot of beans beans and more beans. I husband loves to fish so we eat a lot of fish. I snack on nuts through out the day. Along with other fruits and vet. I have noticed a difference in my hair (over the past 5 months, no more shedding), skin, and my nail tips are snow white.
