I think I already know the answer but...is $60 too much to pay the lady at the salon for a relaxer? I feel like the answer is already...duh...YES, but its the ONLY salon around here :(

No not really. I used to pay about 75 for a relaxer and rinse. I would be straight with 60.

But that's my opinion though.

your profiles says you are in queens. if that is true-then heck yeah $60 is way too much. you can go to a dominician salon and get your hair relaxed for $35. you better shop around. im in hawaii right now and believe me everything is expensive but i only paid $40 for a stylist to relax my hair when i first got out here.

That's the going rate around here. $50-60. However out where I went to school in PG County the going rate was about $75-80. I was like .

Ooops! Queens is where I live when im not in school. I go to a school in a really small town in another state. I know better than to pay for a $60 relaxer at home!!!!! When I tell people here that its $60 for a relaxer, they tell me thats way too much!!! I think its kinda too much too...but hopefully the responses on here will help me out :)

No, I dont think its too much. I live in TX and it costs $55 for me, some stylists within town charge $60, it just depends.

Well seeing how I live in California, use Phyto and pay $60 just for the relaxer AND have to do it myself, I'd say it's a deal:lol:

Fo real! :yep:

oh okay-just making sure you werent trying to hang yourself in queens!lol in that case i guess $60 isnt so bad--but there's nothing wrong with shopping around for a lower price girl;)

thanks for the answers ladies! I really thought this lady was trying to cheat this poor college student! ya'll my she-ro's!

I'm in a small town, O'Fallon in Illinois. It cost me 55 for the relaxer, and I tip 5, so its 60 for me too.

Hmmm...I guess I'm extra retarded because I've been paying 80 plus a tip for a salon relaxer. I paid that because he was a good stylist and I could trust that my hair would be in good condition. Right now Im considering self-relaxing, but then again I may go back to the salon. It is a lot to pay, but I think if you can find a stylist who respect your hair philosophy and cares for the condition of your hair it's woth it.

I think it's CHEAP!!! When I was going to a stylist, I would pay anywhere from $65-$85 for a relaxer. That doesn't sometimes include deep conditioning, ends trimming, etc. But then again, the area you are located factors into the prices also. I'm in Chicago so we like the inflate the price of everything here!:(

When I use to get a relaxer it was anywere from $65 to $75 not including tip, I would think $60 is a good price.

The last time I went to a stylist and got a relaxer the price was $35 so you already know that I'm gonna say $60 is too much. I can get 3 buckets of Affirm for about $60. Do they charge extra $$ for a deep conditioner and to trim your ends? I used to do that as a courtesy for my clients when they got a relaxer. Whew it's been a minute since I've been in a salon.....LOL
