Hi all!, Please don't be put off by my screen name (just a play off my real one). I've known about this site for years, but I just started coming on consistantly early January. My stylist, (I just started going to the salon regularly for the first time ever last Nov.) had just suggested I get a touch up my next appt. and of course it would be lye and would have been my first ever in my life (always used no-lye). So I came here looking for insight from relaxed heads on lye and no-lye relaxers and the pros and cons of switching. After going through many many pages (didn't pay yet ) I got my answer no doubt and the switch has been a very positive experience for me.
A little about my tresses and regimen.
I'm about 2 inches from APL. My goal is to reach APL or a little past by the end of May.
I go to the salon for treatments and/or DC every two weeks (only time it's exposed to heat) and I usually get a doobie/or wrap. Wrap nightly, and lightly spritz Fantasia IC Night Time Oil treatment every night or every other night.
On the off week (when I'm not lazy), I wash with Parnevu Shampoo, and DC with Fantasia IC Deep Penetrating Cream Moisturizer under a soft bonnet. I then apply either IC Tea Moisturizer or ORS Olive oil Moisturizer while wet then either braid up, or roll up and let it air dry for braid-out or roller set. Again, that's when I'm not lazy.
Relaxer touch-up every 8 to 10 weeks (since salon visits; I use to t/u about 3 mo's) Trim/dusting around the same time.
I just started greasing my scalp again with Kuza Indian Hemp hairdress about once a month sometimes twice on a braid-out week. I remember when my mom started using Indian Hemp on my hair when I was younger my hair took to it really well and seemed to grow like weeds from the first application. I believe she used the All-Ways brand.
I don't take vitamins, I'm not disciplined enought for that or making my own shakes so I drink a Boost High Protein shake every morning.
And that's about it..I did purchase the Hesh brand Brahmi-Amla oil from Amazon. It has a mild stinch of Indian Curry and I have yet to incorporate it into my regimen. I did a slight finger run through on my scalp when it first came and haven't used it since, I'm kinda lost on it. And I just have a feeling I'd be better off using the Hemp only.
Well that's it in a nutshell, I'll provide pics as soon as I can and looking forward to learning more and sharing experiences and products with all you ladies!
