Interesting L-Cysteine Fact..It\'s made out of

I was doing a search to see what quantities are most effective cuz I wanna try it and....

I found out that it's made with HUMAN HAIR!!
Well go figure! It's also made with horse hair as well in some forms.

Protein from the Hair Article

Another Hair Manufacturer placing an add to sell Human Hair for L-Cysteine

How L-Cystine is created

Now, the thing that popped into my mind is that the creator did not waste a SINGLE THING right?? I mean, they say that there is probably a cure to all that ails us, right here on the earth. Our bodies and earth are truly wonderfully made!

But I aint gonna lie, when I found it was made from hair, I was kinda like

. So I wonder what my amino's are ALL made of, maybe it's like hotdogs. Better not to know!

On another note, I'm thinking they must be able to get it from non-hair sources right?? But I haven't found anything yet.

Heck if I had known that, then for years, instead of wearing my weaves, I would have just boiled them and ate them

Chicken feathers are another source too.

And for those who find this a bit off-putting, you'll be pleased to know...

[ QUOTE ]
For those who find hair and feathers less than appetizing, food chemists have recently developed sources that may be more palatable. One company produces l-cysteine through the conversion of methyl acrylate into l-cysteine using an enzyme produced through fermentation. An even more recent advance involves recombinant technology, where the genetic coding of a particular microorganism has been altered to allow it to produce l-cysteine.

It just doesn't say which companies those are.

Tara, you reminded me of an article I read not too long ago:
It's Enough To Make You Go On A Diet
