For ladies who DC before they shampoo, is this technically the same as a pre-poo?

yeah it is. I normally prepoo with some sort of cholesterol/light protein conditioner, and I DC with a moisturizing conditioner. I made a DC mix w/each of these conditioners so I can save time and be more efficient. It works for me.

my best most moisturizing instant conditioner is pantene smooth and sleek. this stuff is so thick and creamy. it never fails me when i need moisture.

I suppose so, but I think of a prepoo as oils or a light/cheap conditioner. I only use "real" deep conditioners on my dry hair when I DC before washing.

I haven't done this step in a while because I have been using leave in conditioners after the DC process. However, I have used Porosity Control in the past but now I just found another use for the Design Essentials Express Instant Conditioner. Thanks ladies!

I don't let it stay that long. Usually I DC for about 30 min- 1 hour, depending on how much time I have to lounge around. I rinse it out, then I apply the "final rinse conditoner". I just work it around my hair for about 30 seconds or so. The DC did most of the moisturising already, this is basicaly to get silkiness when combing through the hair.
Same here. As another poster mentioned, instant conditioners smell so much better than a lot of dc's so that's another reason I do this.

For my final rinse I use Trader Joe's NourishSpa conditoner. That thing has my hair slipping and sliding through the comb!! Oh, and as you can see from my siggy...it's only $2.49 a bottle!!!! It's also good for your hair since it's organic. Oh..and it smells really nice and light.

Co-sign. And it's cheap, so I use it for my condition washes. Porosity Control is another instant conditioner but it is on the expensive side. A cheap instant deep conditioner is the Lustrasilk Shea Butter Cholesterol that comes in a tub. Excellent stuff and gives the most amazing slip.
