Please share what conditioner you're using for the final rinse. I am looking for a ultra moisturizing conditioner. I used to like Pantene's intensive conditioner, but I swear they changed the formula.

For my final rinse I use Trader Joe's NourishSpa conditoner. That thing has my hair slipping and sliding through the comb!! Oh, and as you can see from my siggy...it's only $2.49 a bottle!!!! It's also good for your hair since it's organic. Oh..and it smells really nice and light.

My best friend swears by that stuff! I can't wait until I use up all my V05 so that I can move on to Trader Joe's!

Pardon me but I am slow:look: What do you ladies mean by final rinse. Are you using another conditioner after you deep condition?

NTM DDC, or Motions Moisture Plus.

Longhairluva, I usually need to use another instant conditioner after deep conditioning because I mostly use protein deep conditioners.

I'm not understanding this as well.

What does the final rinse do that your deep conditioner doesn't?

I use the scented moisturizing conditioners from Bath and Body Works as final rinse conditioners. They give you lots of slip! I am going to try the conditioner from Trader Joe's also.

Instant conditioners just give your hair extra moisture. Especially if you just did a protein treatment. I do it after every dc treatment though. That why I use the cheap stuff and save the good stuff for my dc's;) You don't really have to do it but my hair loves it.

Well for me the final rinse gives more slip than most of my dc's and I feel that it helps to lock the moisture in better. I need the slip to help me detangle and plus I just like it.

I'll have to find a Trader Joe's in Illinois. I love conditioners for co washing. I can never get enough:D

i don't get it either. the whole point of deep conditioning is that you don't need any more conditioners. btw i always deepcondition with a moisturizing conditioner even if i do a protein treatment first.

I guess you don't have too, but I have been doing this for a lifetime and it does helps to impart even more moisture. Also, I find that instant conditioners usually smell better than dc's so that is why I do it too.

I agree. Many of DCs contain protein as well, so I do a rinse to supplement moisture. I hope this makes sense, but my DCs strenghten and moisturize my hair, and the rinse smooths and softens my hair. It just feels complete. I have a mix that contains V05 S&C, Generic PM The Detangler and PC. This detangles my hair like a dream and the whole washing process feels complete.
I guess it depends on your hair and your needs. I think some do it for the added assurance, and some see a real difference when using it.

Pretty much all of my favorites are instant or leave-in conditioners. They're in order from most moisturizing to least.

Aveda DR (instant that I use as a leave-in)
Qhemet (can be used as either)
MegaTek (can be used as either)
Nexxus Humectress (can be used as either)
Salerm 21 (leave-in)

I should add, besides Aveda DR most of the moisture my hair receives comes from a moisturizer applied after conditioning.

Okay so, I guess I will try this. What do you all do-Rinse out the DC and then add the rinse while you are in the shower? How long do you let it stay in?

I don't let it stay that long. Usually I DC for about 30 min- 1 hour, depending on how much time I have to lounge around. I rinse it out, then I apply the "final rinse conditoner". I just work it around my hair for about 30 seconds or so. The DC did most of the moisturising already, this is basicaly to get silkiness when combing through the hair.

Ooooh Okay. Thank you for replying. I think I will def. try that! But instead of adding a new conditioner, I will just use more silicon mix to help with detangling. Then again, I have tons of conditioners that I need to use up OOOOH and I have conditioners that i ordered coming in the mail.:D

I just started using PM The Detangler and definitely like it. I usually use some Elucence MB and only lightly rinse so a little is left. I did the same with the PM and the results were great! Detangled, moisturized, and smooth.

So are yall doing a DC then rinse with another conditioner

or

Dcing , then wash, and then do a final rinse?

I do it the second way. I now DC on dry hair before washing. Either way seems to work fine for me. I either use a cheapie conditioner, Nacidit Olive Oil Rinse, or Praital Silk Worm Rinse as the final rinse. I do an ACV rinse once a week, following the conditioner rinse. No tangles this way!

I do the exact same thing. I cowash days, I DC on dry hair then do a rinse with my detangling mix. On poo days, I DC on dry hair, poo, then apply my rinse. I guess the difference for me is that my hair feels stronger and more moisturized and I save time and water.

Yes, I deep condition before I shampoo and use Ion Detangle Finishing Rinse as my final step.
