I recently purchased a conditioner called Biolink VCO Hot Oil Conditioner Anti-Frizz Intense Moisture & Shine. I was intrigued by it because it contains virgin coconut oil and keratin, but I also noticed that it contain paraben and alcohol. I am a newbie and very confused. I do not know much about what alcohols are okay, and which are not. According do these ingredients, could this be helpful or harmful to my hair?

yes, sorry i never heard of your product.... I'm sure others will chime in

also on that site you may often get a hit on the product name itself

thus you wouldn't need to enter individual ingredients

Cetearyl alcohol is fine, it's a fatty alcohol. The alcohols to avoid are Isopropyl alcohol and Ethyl Alcohol. Stearyl and Cetearyl are not drying. Actually I just saw on Skindeep that there's a cancer risk associated wih Stearyl :( as is probably the case with a few other ingredients in that and most conditioners.
Parabens are ingredients to avoid whenever possible. They are suspected carcinogens and methylparaben has been shown to damage skin and cause aging as well.
