but....

what does hot olive oil do?

is it moisure or protein?

do I open up my cuticles with the hot oil, put on protein and then close with the rinse?

am i being thick?

They can add moisture to a thirsty scalp, add shine to otherwise healthy hair, temporarily mask damage in dull hair, and can make brittle hair a bit more supple.

They key thing is what TYPE of oil. With the exception of coconut and jojoba and possibly castor oil, other oils will just coat the hair shaft, just sitting on it. Though they will penetrate the skin/scalp. So I would do it LAST to not seal out moisture or protein from other treatments I plan to do that day.

Unless, I'm using coconut or jojoba oil. These penetrate the hair and skin...but may offer less shine (Hasn't been my experience, but is a possibility).

So essentially they can add moisture (coconut/jojoba,possibly castor) or seal the hair (olive, canola, etc) ...they generally don't "open" then hair as that requires altering its pH level.

HTH.

Thankyou.

gosh on one hand im so glad i found this forum and look forward to healthy hair..and then sometimes I think my brain (and wallet) would prefer me to be bald and ignorant!!!
