Inexpensive lye relaxer??

Why is it that only no lye relaxers seem to be inexpensive? What lye's exist that arn't so expensive (like affirm and mizani).

I know about revlon realistic, but are there any other options?

Elucence is 8 bucks for a 1 lb tub. Since I have fine hair, that's the equivalent of 4-5 retouches!
