So I've noticed that alot of ladies are using Indian products and I would to give them a try. But I'm running into two problems, what should I buy and limited funds. I was wondering if someone could help me with the basics to get started???? TIA:drunk::drunk::drunk:

Start with the oils, don't rush into anything you have no knowledge of, I recently started with the oils myself and will gradually try other products purhaps. Read up on new products on-line before making drastic decisions that may cost you your hair and the progress your making

please inform us on the oils you are using and how you are using them

Amla oil, Vatika and Sesa oil. I oil my scalp while my hair is braided and before washing or henna. And amla is a good oil all around also good after washes for oil treatment sorta like a hot oil.

I'd definitely go with Amla and Vatika, just like Anna9764. I also use Mustard Oil as it supposedly has a high sulfur content and is supposed to be good against dandruff and hair fall.

I have a huge tub of Cassia I haven't started using yet- so I can't give any hints as to it's effectiveness.

Hey girl! Why don't you try Gro Aut Oils? They are Bringhraj, Mahabringhraj, Pure Unrefined Coconut oil and the Gro Aut oil itself. In addition to it being short and simple (I put equal parts of each in a larger squirt bottle and double up on the cocunut oil) it can be applied every night and you will be amazed at the growth you will get. No headaches, no oily drips (especially if you massage it into your scalp in a circular motion, distributing it evenly) and no jewelry turning black! I also have Vatika Oil and Amla, Shikakai, and Jasmine. The latter four I use primarily when I wash my hair. After rinsing out Mega Tek, I use a rinse/detangler (Dominican Rinse, Milk and Honey) to soften my hair up a bit and then I pour a liberal amount of the VASJ oils and let it run through my hair and scalp, massage for about a minute and then I rinse it out. Right after that I am ready for my deep conditioning treatment which is also a Dominican Conditioner Milk and Honey. But try Gro Aut. It is no joke. The link is below. I can't remember the name of the lady who owns this, but I think she is a member on this site. Anyone know what her name is?

I love the Gro-Aut oil and I massage my scalp with it almost every night.
MadameLaTigresse, I may have to try your oil combinations because they sound great.

The maker of Gro-Aut is LHCF member ReddTweetyB.

OP...If I were you, I'd start reading the other threads devoted to veda to get an idea of the products and what they do. As someone said above, oils are the place to start because they are the easiest, least expensive, and most familiar to people starting w/ veda.

A plain food grade coconut oil is probably the best place to start. Parachute oil (brand name) is great and inexpensive....it's sold at almost any place Indians do alot of shopping. Sesame oil is also cheap and easy to get. If you look in a regular grocery store, look for cooking oils. That way you will avoid oils mixed w/ mineral oil and the like. It'll be cheaper too.

Knowing NOTHING about your hair, it's difficult to recommend anything beyond a plain coconut or sesame oil. Infusions should be approached differently for natural vs relaxed hair and even hair color. This is even more so w/ powders. What exactly are you looking for in your hair regime?

The best place to start buying Vedic stuff is Indian groceries, halal stores, and ethic markets. Don't do Ebay unless you KNOW what you want. Western healthfood stores and online places are way too expensive and frankly I wonder how much they know about Ayurveda.

Does anyone have the ingredient list for this 'Gro Aut" oil and any of the other oils listed on that site? The price for Parachute coconut oil is LAUGHABLE at that link. $10 for 200ml (7 oz) for Parachute? I spent less than that for 1000ml (about 34 oz) w/o shipping....that site's price is BEFORE shipping is added.
