I tested a flat iron at 300 degrees on a tissue paper and ya'll it was just warm. I was able to put my finger on the ceramic plate without much discomfort. How is this going to straighten my hair?

What temperature should I safely set it to cuz 300 doesn't seem to do much.

It was not a big name brand flat iron.

Alright, I'll crank it up but plan on straightening from airdried hair, no blow dryer.

Dang, I kinda wanted to swang a little....

There's no flat iron available to the gen public that burns tissue or paper towels, that's a stove top/oven test. To determine your correct temp you have to test a swatch of your hair - don't go by your fingers. I can use irons at 450 and even 450+ but I can do this coz I have exceptionally coarse hair - go by the recommendations that came with your iron and test in that range.

Thanks Tiye!

Good to know I was conducting the wrong test! :wallbash:
It was a borrowed, no name brand flat iron which means I don't have instructions. This one went up to 450 and the owner was using it on her weave and it was SMOKING HOT! I know for sure I don't need 450 but now I also know that 300 is not enough.

Thanks again and any other info you have, please send away........
