The advice given to me yesterday.

Basically I'd been away from LHCF since march and i developed some hair issues. I tried to deal with these issues on my own and now I'm convinced that had I continued, I might be back to where I was when I joined 2 years ago.

Long story short, I was experiencing extreme breakage because of some bad habits. It was a combination of relaxer application, too much protein and too much shampoo. And I was in denial too.

Once I became convinced my hair was too weak, I added some protein to my regimen. When I saw how well that worked, I overdid it. But you couldn't tell me that.

Well yesterday EMJazzy and Lady Esquire did. I was open minded and followed their suggestion to add more moisture to my routine. I didn't know that I would see immediate results. It was actually very sobering. Before when I had all that protein in my regimen, I told myself that all the hair in my comb was just the weak hairs coming out.
What I was starting to realize was that my hair was literally breaking off every day. My ponytail and bun both lost about half their size. Denial is strong yall.

The good news is that I realized all this today. The moment I used the moisture conditioner I saw a 90% reduction in how much hair was in the comb. I couldn't believe it. All this time I thought I was helping my hair but I was harming it. What if I hadn't asked for advice?

I wouldn't have any hair!!!:nono:

I'll have to discuss the reasons why I went overboard at another time. I think I panicked when I first saw breakage and ran with it.

I'm back on the right track and I just want to thank

I am glad you found help!!! We all have our moments where we have to send out a S.O.S.

Sobering is right. I'm glad you were able to get immediate results. I love these girls, the advice and the way we pull together when one of us is going through a hair crisis.

.

I don't know what I'd do without them!!!
That's why I love this site so much--you never reach your goal alone. All of us had to get help at the beginning middle and end. I hope I can be just as helpful to someone else.

I was in the same boat as you. my hair kept breaking and breaking and my stylist kept giving aphogee, it never occured to me and her that I might need moisture. this went on for two years and the breakage would not stop. i finally had to cut my SL hair to ear length because it was so thin. this was years before i found the board. im happy you found out what the culprit was. this board is a great resource.

I am soooo happy that the moisture worked for you, and I am very happy that I was one of the ladies to offer helpful advice!! :hug2:

:grin:I'm glad you were able to find some help on the boards and correct your problem

that is very good that you got immediate results. I have went overboard on the protein before and it took me several weeks to get it back to normal. You see things on the board that work for so many people and you think it will work for you as well. Now, my regimen is mainly moisture. even light protein i only do on an as needed basis. i also realized i can't do frequent washing either. that and the protein was just drying the crap out of my hair.
