Another henna question!!! I got my henna and I'm ready to use but i'm sooo nervous and need some help!!!

I don't want the colour to release from the henna, I don't want to end with with real red, orange looking hair...

I also brought a indigo sample, (well 2 but only one came... not sure if its going to be enough) whats the best way to apply this!?

My ends are dyed, is it best to use the indigo over the ends only, or will a be dealing with a colour mis-match. Or shall I apply the indigo with alot of water to to increase the content.

also, what things should I add, for a darker effect, but also something that won't act as a catalyst to the colour release!? I was thinking lime and or lemon juice???

eta:- Is it safe to apply straight after taking out a weave, what should I do prior and subsequent to henna i.e. deep con either way? clarify? etc!?

dont use a terp, mix the henna and immediately apply. also don't sit under a dryer. For darker, mixx the henna, mix the indigo with hot water let sit for 1 min and mix in with henna - apply to hair. depending on the ratio of henna:indigo you should get a nice dark brown color.

I wouldn't apply it right after taking out weave or braids, clairify/wash and DC your hair, keep it moisturized during the week. next wash do your henna.

JLove might be right about waiting but I just don't know for sure. I didn't get a reddish orange color when I did mine. I actually did allow the color to release a little. I didn't let it sit for a long time but I did let it sit for a few hours with heat. I mixed it with indigo and my hair color is in my avatar pic. I did not add acv or lemon juice. Henna, Indigo, Moisturizing Conditioner, Amla Powder and some essential oils...that was it for me.

Thank you for the reply, one question, do you think it will get a blacker finish if I mix the indigo in with the henna as opposed to separately?

I don't think so. I'm just going by the directions I got from henna for hair. You could try it.....

Do you want jet black?

yeah I after jet black. I've only got a sample though (order 2, but only got 1 and thought there would have been more in it) , so I just gonna hope for the best, but I definately don't want a colour from the henna.

I'm not going to add any terps, I think these may cause the colour release.

the sample won't be enough. What you'll need to do is this:
1. Henna your hair, let it sit for however long you like
2. rinse
3. Apply indigo, let it sit
4. Rinse
5. Apply Deep Condish

take a look at Sareca's tutorial, she has detailed instructions or you can PM her

Will this not cause the colour to release? Shall I mix the henna with warm or cold water!?

I forgot you don't want any color  . Leave on for 30-45 min w/out heat. mix with warm water - you might have a time getting the right consistency with cold water.

I have recipes to obtain black hair in my fotki.

The best thing to do the first time is what JLove advised without letting the henna release, then doing your indigo (this is what I did the first time). You probably won't have the color you're looking for. I achieved jet black after four applications. After the initial application, I let the indigo release and added henna right before I put it in my hair.. it gave the indigo more "adhering" power.
