because I can't take MSM. Everytme I try, after a couple of doses, I get terrible cramps. I thought it was something medically wrong with. At first, I did not relate my cramping to the MSM but after I went to the doctor and she could not find anything else wrong with me, I narrowed it down to the MSM.

Has anyone else experienced this? I need a resolution right now.:(

Well, it is not worth it if it makes you fell bad.

Do you take the capsules or powder? Maybe you can try the other.

Or just toss it all together and use other supplements.

Well you know everyone can't take everything, have you tried a Vitamin that has MSM in it? I mean you might not get as much as you were but you will still get some. Because if it hurting you like that then leave it alone or minimize what you are taking.

I know somethings I can't take and my stomach will start to hurting me bad so I leave it alone and then I am all good.

You can use sulfer powder and use it topically on your scalp. I hear you canget it in some pharmacies and its called Flowers of Sulfer. MSM and sulfer are one and the same.

I felt horrible when I first start taking MSM. Cramps, headaches and every other flu sympton you can imagine. I lower my dosage and I havent' had any problems. I'm afraid to increase it again, because I felt awful.

How much did you start with? I do know you are supposed to start small and with every increase drink more water.

What symptoms were you feeling? I have been taking MSM and I feel like shiyet!

Are you taking it after you eat? Stoopid me kept making the mistake of takin my silica before I ate (it was just 2 seconds I swear) but in them 2 seconds my stomach would cramp something wicked, I'd get all woozy and I'm sure i'd wanna throw up. So wen I take my 8 tabs in the morning (iron, zinc, cod liver oil +multis, flaxseed, silica, msm, biotin and ma BC) I do it through various stages with my breakfast and always with them massive ones - silica and msm - last!

I got my period every 14 days on the dot (no pun intended) while I was taking capsule form MSM. It was horrible, I had those nasty cramps too, I had to stop immediately.

Yeah you have to eat, that is why in the morning breakfast is my biggest and fattest meal, I have Turkey Bacon, Eggs, Grits & Juice and when I take them I feel fine. If Not you will swear you have morning sickness lol!!! I did that one time and I was quezzy and nasseaus (however u spell it)

Thanks for the responses.

I started taking 1/4 teaspoon of powered form I purchased from Vitamin World. I didn't feel nauseaus, I felt like I was having labor pains or an extremely painful period. The capsules from GNC do nto hurt me.

I may start taking the capsule form again. I'm too chicken right now.

Sorry to hear that happened to you with such a low dosage. Makes me wonder if something was wrong with that batch.
ETA: I use the Vitamin World brand (on my second bottle now) and it does contain silica which could be the culprit. MSM is a natural ingredient our bodies need and is usually found in our food. Silica comes from the earth and is very good for our hair, among other benefits. Maybe going back to your GNC brand or one that doesn't contain silica will work better for you, if you decide to continue with MSM.

I remember reading somewhere that our bodies need a balance of vitamins and minerals, and that it may not be good to take large amounts of any one (but everyone's different). Still, maybe you should try a vitamin supplement that has MSM in it.:) Also, as others have mentioned, I would definitely take it with food.

Having long hair is not worth physical suffering. If your body says "NO", listen to it. Do not adjust things, and add more to your regimine. Simply let the MSM go. It's that simple. Really, it's not worth it!!!

Said in love and honesty. :)
