The daily CO washes...I know I'm the queen of co washing, been doing it daily for the last year and a half w/out fail but my hair can't handle it anymore. I'm seeing so much hair on the floor now, I had just overcome a bad bout of seasonal shedding but I just had to put that devil-spawn of a hair dye on my hair and I think that caused it to take a turn for the worse. The kicker is that my hair looks the same color still, so much for "Intense Red" :( I'm going to just throw some cornrows in on Sunday nights and work w/ that for the rest of the week, I started doing that already. Oh and I'm going to stick to the bun challenge, I'm gonna make BSL (stretched) by my 1 yr nappyversary or else :ohwell:

maybe u need to do protein treatments, ur hair probably got way too soft so that's why u may be losing so much hair. Give the hair a break for a while...

:look: so hm.. how much growth did u get during than year and a half, since u're saying that u're going to reach BSL in just one year? :look:

No, I did a treatment every 2 weeks and when that didn't work I switched to every week and it still took awhile to stop shedding excessively (before I dyed it and messed it up totally)

Carlita my siggy has my info in it, I spent a whole year transitioning, when I BC I had about 8inches of hair left since my transition was so long. I started daily cowashing back when I was relaxed, maybe I was doing it for longer than a yr and I half I'm not good at math nor time so I don't know someone run a search and see when I first started raving about co washes  You can see in my Maxiglide album that my hair isn't' short, I don't see why I wouldn't be able to reach BSL in April (if I can get this breakage under control :look: )

I actually don't mind the bunning y'all, I got a lot of compliments today on this look, there's more pics in the album I did a mini update today:

Whoa, the original natural hair queen complimented me  :notworthy
Den thanks for the compliment but my hair pales in comparision to yours, lol. I've used Dove intense moisture conditioner, but lately I've been alternating DDTA (which has cones in it) for one month, Suave Milk & Honey the next month. My hair acts up if I use a 'cone conditioner for more than a month straight, even if I clarify. The DDTA has been discontinued unfortunately, that stuff leaves my hair so soft & beautful. I've been able to find 2 more bottles of it, but when that runs out I'm going to go back to the Dove conditioner (also has cones). Hope that helps!

LOL, Thanks for the compliment!!! your natural texture is really nice. i've heard quite a few people mentioning about the dove intense. i'd have to look out for this one when i next go shopping. I have serious issues with conditioners that contains high amounts of cones. Have you tried that rainflowers conditioner by herbal essences. i think Dahomeyashoi, said it was very silmar to Elucence conditioner or kenra. Maybe you could give this a try as well. Do you like VO5 conditioners they don't contain any cones? I'm searching for a really good creamy non-protein, non-silicone one for CWs.

Is it possible that your seasonal shedding cycle is still going on?

If you think that's not the case, it can't hurt to give up the daily co washes for now to see if that really is the problem. If nothing else, maybe you could cut the daily co washes to 2-3/week instead of every day. Good luck, please keep us update on your progress...I'm doing co washes several times a week myself.

No I haven't tried any herbal essences, I always check them out when I'm at the $1 store but wasn't sure how good they were...I'll be on the lookout for the rainflower one though. I actually just bought a VO5 conditioner, freesia I think  , I'll have to check when I get home but I'm hoping that will work on my hair. I noticed it had protein in it though, towards the bottom of the ingredient list but I'm hoping that won't affect my hair too bad.

I don't know if I'm still shedding Cincysweetie, usually I only shed for 1 - 1.5 months, it's been almost 2.5 months now. I've never shedded for that long, and after my hair dye disaster I'm seeing broken hairs amongst the shed hairs but hey I should've known better to mess w/ dye. I put Jazzing in my hair over the summer and it made my hair feel different than usual (not in a good way :( ) I wound up ordering some Nutrine Garlic Shampoo, I heard good things about it so hopefully it'll help me keep some some hair on my head!

Well hopefully the garlic shampoo will help. I'm sure things will turn around soon. But to get control of that breakage, have you done a HEAVY protein treatment? Such as, Aphogee?

My hair was shedding like crazy last month but I trimmed it a couple of weeks ago & so far I have normal shedding.
Also, I use Herbal Essence with the blackberry- it's a lilac colored bottle & the one in the pink bottle with jojoba is good too.
I am also a fan of V05's Nourishing Oasis in the lavender bottle- Lavender & Chamomile.

No, I've been using nexus emergencee. I used motions cpr one time, not sure if it did anything. I actually have a sample pack of aphogee but I'm scared to use it  I'll try it though, maybe this weekend.
