I\'m giving up on detangling for awhile.

I had an epiphany last night in the shower

I was doing my nightly conditioner only wash, which because it's been cold out has turned into every other night.... but anyway, to make a long story short, if I detangle in the shower with the help of the shower stream and the conditioner, what's the point of then detangling and combing again, putting that additional stress on my tresses, just to pull it back into a bun anyway. I found that if I just smooth it back w/my hands and put it into a bun that it's just as effective and less stressful to my hair. It's not perfectly smooth, but that's not a big deal to me. Just thought I'd pass this info along.

That is what I do Carmela, it is so helpful because wet hair is so fragile. So what if it isn't perfect, I ain't trying to impress anybody!

Re: I\'m giving up on detangling for awhile.

My only problem with that is....how do u moisturize with your hair already in the bun? I like to moisturize before my hair dries.

Re: I\'m giving up on detangling for awhile.

Water is the moisture. I do however rub some oil through the length of my hair making sure I pay special attention to the ends.

Re: I\'m giving up on detangling for awhile.

That's a really good idea caramela. I think I'm gonna try that on the days that I just pull my hair back in a bun.

Re: I\'m giving up on detangling for awhile.

i usually do this as well. however ive started detanglin my hair with shampoo instead of conditioner, i find it easier with almost no sheddin

Re: I\'m giving up on detangling for awhile.

I do this every other day. I think I only comb my hair when I am rollersetting. What you're doing is a great way to extend your youch-ups between relaxers.

Re: I\'m giving up on detangling for awhile.

What do you do about the dripping after you've put your hair in a bun in the shower?

Re: I\'m giving up on detangling for awhile.

*thinking really hard* I don't feel any dripping after I put my hair in a bun. after I give it a slight squeeze, i do the bun thing, put on a scarf to smooth the edges down, then put on a hat (i usually dress like a man).

Re: I\'m giving up on detangling for awhile.

I only ever comb in the shower now that I'm airdrying all the time between touchups.

I cannot shower and skip detangling with a comb, though. I canNOT just use my fingers and the water and products. Tried skipping the comb entirely once and lost way much hair when I DID comb a week later.
