I'm confused

I can't speak for anyone else, but I know for me the tension can sometimes pull out the hair, especially if the scarf moves around at night.

I don't have problems with my hairline, but my nape was a problem at one point.

It's hard to explain how I wear my scarf, but I normally wear more than one so that it can stay on my head. I use a doo rag and a regular scarf as well. I'll normally wear the doo rag under my regular scarf (especially if I wrap my hair at night).

I've never had that problem, but I use silk scarfs. I can imagine cotton scarfs (the bandana kind) would cause damage since hair can snag in the cotton fibers.

I have heard of bonnets causing hair loss at the hairline due to the elastic.

Any pressure applied to the same area (whether hairline or nape) will cause stress on the hair and eventually the scalp. It will "rub" the hair out of that area and it will look/appear thin. The hairline and nape area is the most fragile hair no matter your hair type. Some ppl tie their scarves right at their hairline and it's best to be done below it. Some ppl tie it lightly and then put a bonnet over it, just incase it comes off at night.

HTH!

I agree with SweetlyBlessed and also believe that tying your scarf farther down your forehead, halfway between the eyebrows and hairline can save your hairline. It's how I've always tied my scarf since I realized the danger of hats and scarves on hairlines.
