Good night ladies, for those who may read this after tonight good day to you.

I hate the perimeter of my hair.

I have fine hair and my edges are LITERALLY A HOT MESS!! I really don't know what else to do. I feel like moisturizing is not helping, growth aids don't work NOTHING WORKS! I'm fed up.

Now why couldn't I be blessed with hair that grows evenly from root to tip all over INSTEAD I have fuzzies at my edges and temples, they are uneven and looks like breaking hair.

Too embarrassed to even post pics but I will tomorrow because I NEED SERIOUS HELP, it's driving me insane.

Right now I'm stalking websites to purchase some emu oil, I use Mobistar on the areas at least 3x per week and while that helps to grow it it remains short and fuzzy.

Could it be that I comb my hair back to often because I'm forever in a low or mid high bun tucked under.

What can/should I do? Help a sister out PLEASE!

I'm sorry this is so long but i had to come and ask for help.

What growth aids have you tried?

Monistat, washed and DC today. I applied it a few mins ago. I also use a wide range of stimulating and growth oils. I'm seriously contemplating going back natural and have been since April of this year.

I really need something to work because for the most part I stay consistent with growth aids and
Moisture.

I've been using rosemary/lavender/carrot/white thyme/cedar wood/peppermint oils in a carrier oil (avocado, castor, olive... whatever I have at that time) and one side I felt was thinning filled in nicely. The other side wasn't really thinning but it's filled in as well. I've been doing this for about 6 months or so now. Both sides don't look the same because one side of my hair has always been thinner than the other but both my edges are back to their normal density.

What are you using to slick ur edges down? Can you walk us step-by-step on how you get ur hair into a bun? How often are u combing your hair back?

I think it may be a combination of the relaxer and the tension from your bun.

When I bunned daily I would often supplement using additional products to slick my hair down vs. making my ponytail tighter. It looked as if my hair was super tight when in actuality it was pretty loose.

As for relaxing maybe you can try applying extra conditioning and/or oil product to your edges prior to relaxing your hair. You can also allow your neutralizing poo to sit there for a prolonged period of time. Both of these processes will prevent overprocessing.

You may also was to try applying protein to your edges every wash day until your edges have been fully restored and then adjust accordingly from there. Try the layering method. Apply your protein (preferably something light...think ORS Replenishing Pack or Aphoghee 2 min. reconstuctor), apply a small amount of your moisturizing DC on top and just a tid bit of oil to seal it all in. Remember to only apply this combo to your edges or anywhere there is damage. You wouldn't want to cause any adverse reactions to the areas of your hair that don't necessarily need it .

This will help strengthen your edges so that they may withstand any chemical process or tension (bunning) that you may put on them. Also, continue to massage your edges daily. I prefer castor oil because of it's healing properties, but its honestly just a preference...you can use whatever oil you want. The part that really matters is the daily massage.

I would do this technique to my ends when I was transitioning. @Saludable84 also tried it a couple of times and really liked it. Maybe she could come through and attest to this.

Also, how often do you Shampoo? If not regularly, I suggest stepping up your poo' game. It won't cause a rapid boost in growth, but it will provide a clean slate for the protein to attach itself to your hair i.e better results. I would suggest something with Carboxylic acid or silk amino acids. These ingredients help protein attract to the hair better. However, any moisturizing shampoo should do the trick. Do clarify prior to use however, you may want to start this process with squeaky clean hair.

I had this issue while relaxed and nothing ever worked. The one period when my edges were nice was back in the doobie days. I concluded that the problem was pulling my hair back, period. My hair just couldn't do it. So, I went back to hair down all the time and my hair line improved.

And then my ends suffered. So I went natural and my edges are still weak. I'm over it, tbh, I no longer care. That probably didn't help, huh? :look:

I competing understand your frustration. I'm right with you babying my edges for years and trying not to be discouraged.

I just started my second month of Minoxidyl sealed with JBCO. I am seeing more hair sprouting in the smooth areas. I pray the progress continues.

Thanks for targeted protein tip. I'm going to try this for my hairline.

Several things stick out in your OP. Tension and possible breakage in an already sensitive area through constant bunning. Time to switch your style up! When using growth aides pick one and only one and stick with it for at least 6 months.

In my early regrowing days i used the Hayes oil formulae. Im sure ive talked about it ad nauseum during my time here on LHCF. I still use this formulae from time to time, because life happens and sometimes my hair grows and sometimes it needs a boost!

My edges are NEVER slicked down I just let them be fuzzy and ensure there is moisture there.

Pray about it. Seriously. Ask God to help your edges grow thick and full like the rest of your hair. At the end of it say "I receive it, thank you." And he will do it because he can do anything. He created the Earth, your hair is not a big deal. The reason I say this is because I asked God to help me do the same and I was granted my request and my edges grew thick and full like I asked. I saw hair appear in a place where it seemed to be balding in just You have not, because you ask not. So ask him! LOL! :yep:

Also grease your edges with Softee indian hemp! Water and grease those edges with that product and you will see growth in a few days! Not even lying! I didn't think it was possible until I literally kept track and saw the growth myself! That product has MULTIPLE different oils in one product and it stimulates the scalp like crazy to grow hair!

i too have fine hair. My hair/ Our hair loves protein.

My edges are thick and healthy, brown gel is responsible.

I use brown gel and Herbal Essence hello hydration to slick my edges back.

So are you saying this is a possible solution along with PRAYER, lots of protein and inversion?

Jaborandi (Brasil) or Indian Hemp...it really stimulates hair growth for sure.

Yup, looks like breakage or alopecia. When I was relaxed, I had a similar issue but found ORS Carrot Oil to save my edges. But all that struggle was a thing of the past once I committed to being natural.

Also, are you relaxing every 6 weeks? If so, try and stretch to 8 weeks, then 10 weeks, etc. Use a more gentle relaxer if you can. Never relax bone straight. Also try and do more side part buns to ease the tension on your temple area.

No darling I do not have aloepecia I rebuke that in Jesus name.

The soonest I've ever relaxed is 12 weeks, my stretches are mostly 22 weeks at most. I bun everyday and I think it's the main contributor to my thin edges. I also have extremely fine hair low density always have even as a natural.

What relaxer do you currently use?

I've only used 2 since I've started relaxing again November 2013. Design essentials regular lye took me out of my natural hair, I hated it. I've used profectiv anti breakage regular no lye about 3 or 4 times and I don't think u want to use it again.
I wanna go back to lye relaxers, motions was great back in the day, I may opt for that.

I'll be 10 weeks post on Monday and not looking to relax anytime soon. I may go till December.

Simply put, skip relaxing your edges until they recover.

And yes, your edges will look puffy unlike the rest of your hair but if you're as hard up as I was, you'll do it without hesitation. I first started skipping relaxing my edges with only relaxing them every other relaxer. The progress was slow and not good enough. I then stopped relaxing them altogether while continuing to relax the remainder of my hair. If you check some of my YouTube vids, you'll see they are much improved. If I can find a photo, I'll post the before and after.

While I don't relax often I can't see myself relaxing 95% of my hair leaving out my hairline. Might as well go back natural because while it wasn't perfect it was better and more even
