Re: If Your Stylist Switched Your Relaxer from NoLye to Lye(or vice versa),would you

I'm pretty sure I would know (when it's way too late of course), because no lye really jacked up my hair. Not only was my hair really dry, but my new growth just felt different the year that I had the no-lye relaxers. It's like I have a completely different head of hair.

Yet another reason why I want to go natural. Many times hairdressers don't want you to see what they're doing, or they run of your favorite product and do their own thing. That's just not gonna cut it and I'm scared that if I keep switching hairdressers as I move, I'm going to run into problems like this.

i honestly don't think i would know. to this day i don't know what my beautician was using on me, my hair always looked nice and that was all i cared about. even after all the things i have learned on this forum i still doubt that i would know :perplexed.

Re: If Your Stylist Switched Your Relaxer from NoLye to Lye(or vice versa),would you

yes because I'm always looking at what she's putting in my hair. I bring my own relaxer anyway.

Yup because all my hair would be breaking off! :wallbash::wallbash: Other than that, no because I used to never look at what she was doing, how much she cut, etc. This is why I'm anti-stylist for now lol

I would notice. My hair was much drier and coarser when I was using a no lye relaxer.

I'll notice. One time my old hairdresser used no lye and I noticed that my hair wasn't as silky, but it was kind of dry after my relaxer. So I asked her and she said that she did use no lye and that I'm very observant to notice that. I ask her to never use no lye again, because my hair just felt dry and not right. So now whenever I go to the hairdresser, I make sure not to get sensitive scalp relaxers and just get the regular lye relaxer in mild.

no..i never cared anyway. Had same results with both...just as long as it doesn't burn my scalp

Re: If Your Stylist Switched Your Relaxer from NoLye to Lye(or vice versa),would you

Even though I haven't had a relaxer in a long time and never got them on a regular basis, I definitely wouldn't be able to tell the difference. In fact, I don't even know what they were using when I did get them! Obviously, I wasn't caring for my hair then as well as I should have!

Years back I could tell. But not initially......Over time with each relaxer my hair responded differently. It was much drier using Calcium Hydroxide versus Sodium Hydroxide. But with technology ( new and improved) I don't know if I would know the difference.

My stylist would not change without asking if I wanted to try something new.
