If your hair doesn't hold a curl or braidout well, does this mean poor elasticity?

Because I am noticing this about my hair...I know that I have a lot of work to do to it...I have had it in two little Pocahontas braids since Monday (I'm doing a super-moisture challenge to help my recent breakage) and I notice when I take it down to moisturize it never holds the braidout well (not that I was meaning for it to, I just noticed it) and I noticed this with curling as well, (but I don't curl it that often)

I don't know if it has to do with elasticity but I have always been told that if your hair won't hold a curl, it is damaged.

But I don't know how much truth is in that though

Oh, well, I am just gonna foucs on getting back in shape then!

Im not sure. WHen I was relaxing my hair bone straight it wouldnt hold anything. Even spritzed curls would only hold for like 10 minutes. Maybe it i s damage maybe you lost all the elasticity due to relaxers.

I was about to say... I had a side of my head that would never hold a curl... After I stopped using heat and stopped touching up so often, it started curling again. I think its damage.
