hours, what would you use to clean the cooked on gunk off? Nothing I have tried has worked so far.

I'm surprised that it doesn't turn itself off automatically. My curling iron does. Which ceramic flat iron do you have? I want to make sure I don't get that one if I decide to get one.

This may be an odd suggestion...but isn't there a cleanser for things like porcelain stoves that's really gentle?? I can't put my finger on it right now, but I know that the cleanser has to be super super mild because of the porcelain but strong enough to do the job. Maybe, if the perm doesn't work, you could check the cleanser aisle at the grocery store for something along those lines. I figure that maybe it would work the same on ceramic as it would on porcelain???

Other than that, I'd check with the BSS to see if they have a special cleaner for irons. HTH

Odd or not, if it works I'm a happy camper! If the relaxer doesn't do the trick, I'll go find that cleanser you were referring to.

Thank you

I think my Jilbere turns itself off. It's a curling iron though--maybe that's the difference. So, are you saying that the ceramic coating is what is "cooked" onto the iron now?

Relaxer can clean your irons. Make sure the iron is hot and use a towel to wipe off the relaxer.
