If you get 1\" a month. Where do u live?

I can't seem to get 1" per month. The most I get is a little over 3/4" in the summer. For all of you who get a definite 1" per month on a consistent basis, what type of climate do you live in?

Re: If you get 1\" a month. Where do u live?

I live in a cool climate and work where it is more humid. I had great growth when I was stationed in the South. I know my hair grew faster when it was humid...but since I started rinsing of shampooing more frequently(almost 2 years now)...I've gotten 1 to 1 1/2 inch a month consisitently...so I think the more you keep your hair 'hydrated' the more growth you accumulate and keep. At least that's my take on it...

I notice that you're the same hair type and that your hair is also relaxed. I would'nt mind even getting 3/4 of an inch a month. What is your regime? Also, how much does your hair grow in the winter?

Re: If you get 1\" a month. Where do u live?

soSly,
Here are my products and the regime I use.

Shampoo – diluted crème of nature
Conditioners – kerakare humecto (Used since about Sept of 2002 up until recently)
Mizani Moisturefuse (recent switch)
Queen Helene Cholesterol Conditioner (not sure how long)
Suave Coconut Conditioner (Since Sept 2002)
Emergency 911 (Since November 2002)
ORS carrot oil
Leave-in – Emergency 911 original formula (since summer of 2002)
Infusium 23 (dumped that when the bottle finished)
Oils & Miscellaneous – honey, olive oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil (recent),
Rosemary oil(not consistent as of lately)
Coconut oil(recent not consistent)
Nature’s Blessing Pomade
S-Curl Activator (diluted)

When in Braids:
I c/o wash daily with sauve coconut conditioner. Mix ORS carrot oil with olive and/or coconut oil and distribute over the length of my hair and then oil
My scalp with coconut oil

When out of Braids:
I either to twist outs or rollersets but I flatiron once in a while. It’s painful (emotionally J) so I try to avoid it as much as possible.

Before I wash:
I put a mixture of honey+olive oil in my hair and leave it on anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. I rinse it out and proceed to do a c/o wash
I c/o wash maybe twice a week but no less than once a week.
I spray my hair with a mixture of emergency 911, s-curl activator, distilled water, olive oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, and I recently added a mixture of horsetail extract (my own creation).
I apply a small amount of Nature’s Blessing Pomade to my hair , rollerset, and allow it to air dry.
I do this once or twice a week.
During the week I spray my mixture in my hand and distribute it over my hair. It keeps it fairly moisturized.

With the braids I’ve been able to stretch my relaxers out anywhere between 3 to 4.5 months. I use lye-regular relaxer. I used Motions for a while but I recently switched to Mizani.

That’s pretty much my regime.
Oh, I don’t deep condition as much as I’d like to. I do it very inconsistently so I probably wouldn’t even say that it is a part of my regime (BADD).

My hair seems to grow very slow during the winter. I think Iget about .44 inches per month during the period between November and February.

Thank you so much SWEETNIC JA!! I will definetly take some of your regime into consideration. I appreciate it!

Re: If you get 1\" a month. Where do u live?

I live in New York.

I generally get 1 - 1/2 inch per month. On some occasions I have gotten 2 inches per months. My belief is that added protein helps allot as well as exercising and rinsing the hair.

When I first noticed the 2 inches of growth, the only thing I was taking in that 6 months period was Twin Lab Liquid Amino Acid, and Cod liver oil. I also ran anywhere from 3-6 miles a day. After the gym I had to rinse my hair despite the cold because I love wetting my hair but also my hair was wet from all the swet. Everyone including myself was shocked at how fast my hair started to grow. So one day I started to measure the growth and it was 2 inches and a wee bit over every month.

I totally agree with this!! I think daily rinsing makes a HUGE difference in growth rate

.

I also think that the other major factor in ladies getting a whole lotta growth is the protein intake. The one thing I'm missing in my regime

Re: If you get 1\" a month. Where do u live?

I want to do regular conditioner washes now as I have started to go to the gym again. Do you recommend actually washing with conoditioner or will plain rinsing do>

Also what type hair do you have, I tried the rinse last week and it was cool as my hair was in small twists. Yesterday my hair looked crazy though on my medium sized twists. How do you wear your hair?

Sorry to pester you with questions, but this my last one (for now

) what conditioner would you recommend for the rinsing?

Thanks!!!

I live in New York. I wash frequently with Pantene Smooth and Sleek. Condition with S&S Conditioner. I use various leave ins. In the winter I with a FABULOUS coconut oil and vitamin E dressing. The winter is when my hair gets really dry. I use a Dominican conditioner 1 or 2 times a week, sometimes with heat. I massage my scalp with a vibrating brush (yes a vibrating brush), and I also take vitamins. I have type 4a relaxed hair.

Re: If you get 1\" a month. Where do u live?

Personally i don't think that the climate has anything to do with how fast your hair grows. My friend get 1 1/2- 2inches a month and he is in MN.

Re: If you get 1\" a month. Where do u live?

I had 2 inches in 10 weeks (after being in NC)..but I usually get a solid inch a month when I'm on Guam.

Re: If you get 1\" a month. Where do u live?

elite chiq, I have to disagree, at least for me. When I'm in Jamaica, when I was in FL, and in the summer months my hair grows a lot faster. In the cold months and dry weather my hair grows very slow (a little less than .5 in per month).I know there are some exceptions but for the most part climate has an effect on growth rate. There was a discussion about this a couple months back. I forgot to look for the thread

Michigan. But I attribute my growth more to supplements. Although, my hair did grow faster in the summer before I started using supplements.
