use eggs in my hair, would that count as a "protein treatment"? I mean, just cracking open a couple of those bad boys, dumping them on my hair and leaving them in for awhile before rinsing? I ran out of Duotex but don't plan on buying more, it seems to not work as well now that I'm almost natural, but it was my favorite protein conditioner when I was relaxing on a regular basis. I'm looking for a new protetin conditioner, my hair doesn't take well to heavy treatments. I want to try the emergencee but can't afford it, but was wondering if plain old eggs would do the trick. Any thoughts, anyone do this already? TIA :yep:

I can't give you no advice on the egg treatment but if you're looking for a not too heavy protein treatment I can only recommend the Motions Protein Silk Conditioner. That stuff is awesome. I've been using it for a while now and my hair loves it. I love the fact that I can use it after every wash and it detangles like nothing else. So I pretty much get three things out of it. A big tub is about 6 or 7 dollars at Sally's I think.....but I'm not sure.

Yes it would!!

I actually used a protein treatment similar to that on my hair recently. LoriLox gave me a recipe for a homemade protein treatment. It's pretty intense. The results were like that of one of the heavier protein treatments like emergencee.

Try this:

1/2 cup of mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 raw egg

mix it all together and apply to hair. let it sit for a couple of hours and voila, you have your protein treatment. please don't use heat as the eggs will cook. it is very messy so you have to keep plenty of towels handy or you could put some cotton balls around the hairline to catch the drips. Good Luck!

Heck NO!!:nono: Not unless you want to have be an 'egg head' No,but seriously, NEVER use just eggs in your hair. It will leave your hair hard as bricks and then you will have gook all in your hair. Take DSD's advice and mixed them suckers.

I don't think it would work because the protein is not hydrolyzed... how will it do anything but sit outside the hair?

but eggs have oils and letchin, so it's not like they are completely worthless. Just not good protein conditioners as a storebought reconstructor would be.

lol, I would be the fool to use heat and wonder why I smell omelets  Thanks for the advice y'all; DSD I'm going to try that mix of yours and see how that works out. And Nay thanks for the Motions review, I was actually considering that since I saw it on the Sally's website when I was running a search on the protein treatments that they had available. Thanks again :yep:
