If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

Is it really that good? Please tell me if I am missing out

I made up my mind to get it awhile ago, but need a little coaxing, lol
How often do you use it? My stylist suggest I use it weekly...

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

I don't think Emergencee is supposed to used weekly. It an intense protein conditioner. I think Keraphix is supposed to be a more gentle reconstructor that can be used more frequently. I heard they were good products, but I haven't used either one.

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

My mom uses it weekly at the suggestion of her stylist. Her hair is fine and thin and does not grow evenly. Emergencee has helped with this problem.

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

I guess I need to add this to the Nexxus collection.

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

Tracy, weekly, don't you think thats overdoing it a bit? Maybe for three weeks consecutively and then return to using it about once a month.
It's pretty good Denali, I got the best results from using it for like 3 weeks straight. Make sure you shampoo it out well and moisturize afterwards

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

nope. not with color.

I used it for weeks when I was doing a lot fo coloring. You do have to stop after a while, but you have about 4 or 5 weeks in my estimation, before you have an issue. Most people don't follow with mositure like we do - then it's bad.

I think it would be fine.

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

I agree, Tracy!

Once it's thoroughly rinsed from the hair and then followed up with a moisturizing conditioner, you should be good to go. The bottle even specifies that you can use it I think once a week until your hair conditions improve, then go to every I guess 4-6 weeks. I don't have the bottle before me, so I can't quote it directly.

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

Is it safe to use immediately after a relaxer. Or best to wait until the following week.

I was thinking something along these lines with the Affirm Relaxer: (is this protein overload?)

1.)relax / rinse
2.)apply mixture of 5n1 & Positive Link / rinse
3.)neutralizing poo / rinse
4.)emergencee / rinse
5.)regular poo to remove excess protein / rinse
6.)deep condition w/heat / rinse
7.)leavin conditioner
8.)air dry

Cowgirl, in the interest of EXTREME caution, I would hesitate to use emergencee in the way you describe because 5 in 1 is a concentrated protein designed to be used with the affirm system whereas emergencee is not. Moreover, hair is so fragile and weak immediately following a relaxer, I'd be too scared to deviate from the prescribed products in the system (you never know if the particular proteins in emergencee will have an adverse affect on the relaxer). I guess what I'm saying is that may simply be protein over-kill on already weakened hair. Why not wait a week or two for the emergencee. Believe me, 5 in 1 is a pretty strong protein and, I repeat, it is designed to work with the affirm system. Also, all that extra washing and rinsing just can't be good for hair that's just been traumatized by the relaxer . . .

I LOVE, LOVE emergencee and been using for over 10 years and I'm sure it's okay to use the way you describe; However, I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to relaxers and I believe LESS IS MORE when touching up, I save the big guns for other times when hair not so fragile.

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

I have a bottle of Emergencee here. It says "Use weekly to structurally reinforce hair that has been chemically damaged or abused by thermal styling appliances."

I have never used it but plan to try it tomorrow.

On the bottle it says leave on for 10 min...how long does everyone leave it on? With heat or without?

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

I follow the directions on this one and put on a plastic cap and leave in 10 minutes with heat. Follow with deep moisturizing conditioner (I like humectress) for at least 30 minutes.

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

I personally would not do the treatment without heat. I don't see how the treatment can really penetrate hair layers without heat. I don't follow up with humectress though. I mix NTM deep recovery with Frederric Fekkai moisturizing conditioner.

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

Denali
If you try it please let me know if its works better than our beloved Drc 28.

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

michelle3147, I agree that heat is essential for proper penetration. IMO, follow up conditioner can be any good deep moisturizer. I haven't tried Frederric Fekkai but I've looked and looked at it for months. . .

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

Well the first time I used it it was my saviour! Now I plan on using it every 2 months, when I take my braids or twists out.

I follow the directions when it comes to proteins. I poo first w/Therrape, then apply, leave on for 10 mins (no more) w/a heating cap, rinse, then poo again w/Therrape and 3 mins of Humectress. It's amazing

. You can certainly leave the Humectress on longer, but 3 mins was just fine for me.

My hair felt super moist, soft and oh so managable. Protein usually leaves me dry, but not this one

Thanks Neroli. I'll follow your advice and stick with the 5n1 during relaxing. I'll hold off on the emergencee until I start seeing excess hair in the comb.

Re: If I see one mo\' post about Emergencee

hmm i may have to give this a try. God bless you all.
