I have always wondered this. If heat is needed for moisture to penetrate the hair shaft, won't heat be needed when using protein (light and reconstructors)? The majority of the lighter proteins direct the user to apply it and leave on for 5 minutes, but won't it "not work as well" because there is no heat to aid in the protein penetrating the hair shaft?:look:

I think it would depend. Like if your hair needs protein or moisture REALLY REALLY bad, it will suck it up regardless  I notice that I need more heat with my MC'S closer to touchup time.

I agree. I never use an external heat source, just my body heat. My hair is conditioned well without heat for moisturizing or protein conditioners.

I know Cathy Howse thinks you need heat, but I think it is clear to us that she is NOT the know-all when it comes to hair. LOL

I guess I'm paranoid about the heat thing because since joining I have always DCed with it just because I thought it was "better" and more effective, esp with the amount of time it takes to work. Thanks for the responses ladies. Bumping for more replies.
