I want to perm my edges

Fantasia IC gel + toothbrush + scarf = flat edges

I think that relaxing the edges alone is one of those things that sounds simple but would be a nightmare in the long run.

Good luck whatever you do.

:nono::nono::nono:

Please No. Don't do it. Here are some things to try that are not risky as that:

Castor Oil
Aloe Vera Gel
IC Fantasia Gel
Sta Sof Fro (use a little serum too, like Garnier Fructis sleek and shine)
Elasta QP Glaze (put a little water based leave in first, ie. NTM Leave in)

Any of these and tie down at night with your silk or satin scarf. If you will tend to your edges every day you will be able to tame them. If you relax them you will almost surely regret it later.

You could also think about purchasing the Root Control by Rsession Tools. It helps but its better to only do heat in moderation. I use this only after I wash and DC and it helps with my edges.

I also have the Brazilian Keratin Treatment which is a life saver.

I have been stretching for about 3 months and decided to relax my edges because they were driving me crazy even with gel and a scarf. I have no regrets. I just relaxed the perimeter and plan to wear protective styles for the next month and it looks great. Just make sure you don't brush or comb where you plan to relax. BTW...My hair is fully relaxed...I wasn't sure if you're natural and just want smooth edges. That maybe a different story if you don't want to comprise being natural...

If you really wanna do it dont relax them textax so they will still go with the natural hair when you wear a WnG. The decision is yours. But go with the scraf method and stuff first and see how that works......

You can also get a 3/4th inch flat iron and put it on low heat. That works for my natural edges when I'm wearing my hair straight.

I use Smooth Edges and it seems to work for me. I'm transitioning and trying to grow out my edges hair so I don't relax or use heat on my edges. It kinda reminds me of "Let's Jam" but works better in my opinion. Breon used it on my hair when she did my weave and I like it so I decided to purchase it. The jar I bought will last me for years.

I don't know the ingredients off the top my head, but you can check it out here: http://hickstotaltransformations.com/store/index.php?p=product&id=1&parent=0

Black gel makes my hair smooth and I have no frizz

The only thing I will say about about relaxing the edges is that eventually you will have new growth and the two textures might drive you crazy.

A friend of mine uses this and it works great. I may have to try it.

If you are natural than I would advise against doing that.
Only because I remember while transitioning how the relaxed stuff and the natural stuff did not get along. It just seems like it would cause tangles and end up being more annoying.

If you are texlaxed relaxed or stretching then I think it is fine to relax the perimeter because I don't think it would cause so much trouble for you.

I have 2 friends who stretch the rest of their hair but relax the halo perimeter mid stretch and their hair is just fine.

I didnt have a good experience relaxing my edges, but I didnt have the knowledge that I have today. Before LHCF I never used ANY product at all on my edges so I am trying to nurse them back to health as they are severely damaged.

If you decide to relax, be sure not to overprocess.

Can someone tell me how to do this...
or convince me not to lol
i just want them to lay flat they make me crazy!
That's how I found this site. Touching up my edges 1 week and 2 weeks after I originallly relaxed :yep: did it for a couple years I think.....finally it couldn't take it anymore :nono: I lost most of my nape which had breakage anyways from this stupid act. I also lost a LOT of length in the back  I wasn't BSL but it was past my shoulders easy, I think it was the most length I had ever had in the back. Looking back I don't know what I was thinking :wallbash: Now I relax every 10 weeks or so and throw the rest in the garbage QUICK and in a hurry. it's been a year and a half and I still haven't gotten my length back and I can only blame myself. I learned of this wonderful site because of it and once I get totally back on track, As Tiffers would say..... I will have blinging hair  LOL. Like myself don't learn the hard :wallbash: way. Looks like some of the girls have left u tips to flatten or straighten your ends ....take notes, I will. Good Luck Anna

I made a thread about this
http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=371135&highlight=

I decided this was the best option for me as I wear half wigs or poneis 99% of the time. I figure as long as keep my hair fully moisturised which I do be DC twice a week and daily and top up with the protien wwhich I do weekly, plus keep an eye on it for any signs of breakage it should be ok.

I don't like the way gel looks and feels on my edges, thats why I choose not to use it

No concoction can lay down my edges. My sister and I do this all the time with no issues. I always err on the side of under processing. When I go to get my entiere head permed, I put oil all over my edges to make sure it doesn't over process.
