I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but my hair doesn't move. Could it be because my hair isn't super straight? I heard some where when your hair isn't super healthy it doesn't move:perplexed. I know it isn't a length thing, because I see women with my hair length and it moves. Any tips or techniques i can use??

thanks,
AGG

The key to swinging hair for me is using minimal products. I can achieve it with both a rollerset (w/saran wrap treatment) and a flat iron.

You might want to post your regimen and what you use. Don't confuse ultra heated straight with swangin' uber-swaggaliscious hair. That could land you in a world of heat damage. Be careful.

I've seen some of your other posts. The best thing you can do is listen to your hair, find your staples, and go from there. :yep: HTH

I was wondering the same thing. My hair is 3b 3c 4a and when I go straight its nice and flowy the first day, but the next day after I unwrap its as stiff as a board. I haven't tried roller setting. When I was relaxed I used minimal products and got swing, but as a natural my hair will not stay straight with minimal products so I've just decided to keep it curly until I find a solution.

yeah rollersetting has helped my hair with the swang
however, my heads so big and rollersetting usually makes my head look even bigger because it comes out soooo straight.
So im looking for another way to achieve the swang.

OP, are you relaxed or natural?

I'm relaxed and only rollerset at the salon (I suck at it :lachen:) so of course I get it there. To get it home, I blowdry/flat iron after the 12 week mark. I make sure to do 2 things. 1 - only put heat protectant (Tressemme or John Frieda) on after washing. . .and don't use that much, 2 - use a roundbrush to gently pull the section straight while I blowdry with the nozzle attachment. Some ppl use the dominican roundbrush technique to completely style, but I just use it to get it straight. I CHI after and my hair has that SUPER swang :lachen:

Using a shampoo/condish that is meant to help the hair keep straight will help out too. . .you may want to try Dangerously Straight by Herbal Essences.

Roller setting definitely provides you with some swang!

Set your hair on big rollers, and when the hair is dry wrap the hair for a few minutes. You'll have sleek hair with some bounce.

The key is not to be too heavy handed on product.

I also use very minimal products whether I do a rollerset or flat iron. My hair gets the most swing when I do a wash, then wet wrap, either sit under the dryer or airdry overnight and then flat-iron....

I use a little bit of volumizing conditioner....Whether I rollerset or flat iron, it's always bouncy.

ETA: I've been doing my own rollersets between my relaxers for the last 5 years. It works.

Healthy hair should have natural bounce. When I flatiron or rollerset my hair it always has bounce even though it's almost shoulder length. Then again I was blessed with thick hair. Try different techniques until you find what works for you.
