do a corrective or just leave it??

I basically self-relaxed using ORS no lye and I started in the front by the time I got to the back..I only had a small amount relaxer left!!!:wallbash: I'm soooo mad!! I let my DH feel and look at the back and he said "yeah, you still have baby dreds back there". :lachen:I'd rather be under processed than overprocessd but since I won't be relaxing again until the first week of January I'm wondering will the new growth be too much by then ?

What do you ladies think?

what do your ends look like in the underprocessed areas and how long is the section of newgrowth? you may have to do a corrective to even out the texture so you wont have breakage when its time for your retouch. i have a few spots underprocessed on my head from my retouch i just did, but its very close to the scalp so i am gonna wait until my next retouch to fix it.

i say leave it. Corrective is too risky. You can stick it out. I only relax my halo most times and Im fine. And I have thick coarse hair. Roller set it and enjoy the look of thickness. Just wait until next relaxer ummmm all the growth. Plus its getting cold, with hats and all that u should be protective styling. At least the front is laid.

I do this on purpose!

Thank you tenjoy and mzhotniz86,

I'm going to leave it alone because I do think its too risky. I'm just going to continue to moisturize and dc to keep it soft!

My ends are fine and the underprocessed part is close to my scalp so I'll just have extra newgrowth in January  .

Hey MrsJohnson,
How did leaving the under processed parts work for you? I am in the same mess right now and i am about ready to rip the relaxer out from under my bed and get to work straightening out them "baby dreds" :lachen:

Dealing with the same situation :wallbash:. I called myself trying to keep it secret because I was supposed to wait until January to relax (that would have been 5 months), but I relaxed a little after 4 months, and I had so much NG my mother didn't know what to do with it. A few spots came out under processed (namely a spot directly in the front of my hair, and areas around my nape). I'm going to try not to worry about it because the underprocessed area is close to my scalp. I do have some slight underprocessed areas from about a year ago. It's a little bit past the middle of my hair shaft. I'd say within about six months it will reach my ends, so I'm probably going to have to take care of all that next relaxer, too. I respect people who relaxer stretch for very long periods of time, but I'm seriously going to have to stick with 3 months. It makes it easier to relax.

I underprocessed my hair so much, I just left it alone and became texlaxed. If you look at my siggy, going bone straight made my hair thin. But now that Ive been texlaxing since May, my hair is much thicker AND healthier.

I understand that everyone is different. I guess it depends on what you are really looking for. I've done correctives with no problems though. If you decide to leave it alone, up your cowashing/moisture game and your NG shouldn't be a problem. I just came out of a weave after wearing them back to back for almost six months and I had crazy NG.

A great mango cholesterol/honey/jojoba oil prepoo made my NG LITERALLY MELT!!!! :)

If I'm correct in understanding, you ran out of relaxer, you had areas that you did not touch up at all. This will cause breakage.:nono: If that is correct then I would separate my hair(the area that was done from the area not done). Put a protective cream on the area you touchup and clip it out of the way with a plastic clip. DO NOT USE METAL. The area you didn't touch up, apply protective cream on the ends and proceed to touch up that area quickly. While smoothing the newgrowth pay attention to the new growth pattern. Once the desired look is acheived proceed to rinse well and neutralize the whole head. (While rinsing some relaxer probably will get in the other previously relaxed hair.) Condition and style as normal.
Also, in the future, when giving yourself a touch up you should always relax the back of the head first. Start from back right, to back left, front left to front right.
I hope this helps.
