I had not had a perm for a year. I self-permed with optimum regular strength. I look like I have a jheri curl. The shaft and middle is straight enough, but I have textured jheri curl ends. I want it to be straight. How do I correct this, and also, could you suggest a good perm. Thank you.

Not actual jheri curl ends, just curly, instead of straight. I've seen posts, where ppl say they underprocessed, and will do a corrective. So I'm guessing, you re-perm your hair, doing something extra during the process, to get the under-processed area straight. My hair needs help. It would be ok, if Iliked this curly look, but I want it Stright, right now i'd say it was 50-65% permed. Help:perplexed

Most wouldnt suggest a corrective, Maybe you should go to a professional for it..

Is this your first relaxer?

I've seen threads here where others underprocessed their hair and had corrections done, some after a week, others after two weeks, without any problems. Do a search, I'm sure you will find some helpful information.

I self-relaxed a little over two weeks ago and it was disasterous. My hair has pretty much reverted back to it's stretched out status. This weekend, I'm seeing a professional about getting a correction done. I hope to get it done at four weeks.

I highly recommend you have a professional do your correction.

I hope this helps. :)

Can someone who has had a corrective done, by themselves or a professional, explain what it is. I am trying to understand, exactly what it is. Just trying to gather as much info I can, to see if thier is a solution to my underprocessed hair. Thank you.:)

This happened to me before about a year ago and about a week ago. I wait two-four weeks (depending how long I can deal with the underprocessed hair) and then relax again like normal. I relaxed about 50% last week so I plan to relax again next week the same way as usual. Just make sure your hair is healthy enough to withstand all of the chemicals.

A hair dresser told me that when I do my next relaxer (because I had decided to do the correction myself), to touch up the new growth as normal, then put relaxer on the underprocessed parts a couple of minutes before I'm to rinse out the relaxer.

Since then, I have decided to have it done professionally, I just need to find a good stylist.
