Whenever I am nervous, bored, or simply thinking about hair, I find myself running my hands through my hair too much. Sometimes I break off strands. I confess. Can anyone help me?
I had the same problem, and couldn't get much advice, so I had to do a little self-help. I put my hair in individual braids. Then I started messing with my braids. So now I've started with the headwraps.
Put it up. Protective styling. You touch it once for the day (sometimes people's protective styles can even last far longer) and then you are done for the day!
I know that's not what you want to hear - but it's fail safe!
I just keep my hair cornrowed behind me and wash one a week.
There are a number of styles that you can choose from. The best of which may be to keep your hair out of your face and preferably (if you want it healthy and/or long) to keep it behind you and tucked away.
It may feel uncomfortable at first, but you have to weigh your options. Mine were, play with my hair 24/7 or where cornrows for a year or two and achieve long hair.
I also touch my hair alot too. Sometimes I twril my hair with my finger. I don't do it to reuglarly only when it's soft and healthy. I just like the fell of it. When it time to wash my hair I just can't get the feeling back. When it be relax. I just like the feeling of it.
When my hair is especially soft I sometimes do the same thing, what works for me is imagining how healthy and shiny it will be if I leave my hair alone and how ragged it'll look if I keep playing around with it. Also try wearing fun protective styles, there are some sites with pictures of such styles on the net.
Melodee, i have the same problem whenever i'm bored, nervous, or just sitting around it's good to see i am not the only one with this problem the only thing that helps me is to keep my hair braided.
