I attended an assembly last week presented by a local school. About 30% of the school was black. What I did notice was that the area didn't smell like burnt protein and there wasn't an overwhelming amount of girls with china doll eyes from too tight braids or pony tails.

I think with forums like LHCF and Youtube that maybe the future for black strands will be different than before. Do you see any difference in your area?

hmmm this is interesting because before I came in here I hadn't thought about it but I have noticed a lot of high schoolers with natural hair. When I was in high school maybe 6 years ago, there were hardly any of us. I was maybe one of three girls and struggling at that. I also see a lot of way better weave installs and girls who understand the importance of realistic looks. I see more grown adults toting around serious issues on their heads then younger women. I think its great! Hair is pretty unimportant in the grand scheme of things but it provides a source of esteem for our young girls and they need to take it back, own it. I felt it in myself when I went natural at that age even though I looked crazy...

My 1st yr of college 2012-2013, all the girls were straight naturals wearing their hair down or under weaves. For the most part all the black girls had super healthy looking hair. I didn't see any struggle leave out or smell burnt hair, grease and oil sheen. Quality weave too, no extra shiny Barbie hair looking a fool. Straight, curly, or wavy weave mimicked what our hair looks like pressed etc

The only ones looking a mess are the ones into Japanese culture. Their hair is always uneven, fried and damaged trying to mimic another race/cultures image.

Maybe it's the area you are in, cause I see tons of glued on lace fronts (obvious ones) and caterpillar eyelashes! I'm glad you guys are seeing change, which it would spread around here!
