... because I'm really tired of companies, even the independent ones, changing formulas. If I make my own then I'll always have what my hair needs whenever I want it and I won't have to depend on a company and hope they don't change up a good thing on me.

Im right along with you. I generally use things I can find on the ground (instead of online) with ingredients as natural as possible and then add whatever my hair needs. AVGel, glycerin, rose water, SAA powder, Ayurvedic powders, teas, herbs, extracts and oils.

It works better for me and its cheaper

You and me both. I think I've found maybe one good deep conditioner and even then, I still add stuff to it... I need a "super duper uber moisturizing change my life type conditioner":lick:

I'm with you. Google "conditioner base". There are several good ones out there. All you have to do is add what you want. I've been wanting to try it but I have to use up my stash first.

I'm in the same boat.
The only benefit to being a recovering PJ is having sampled so many different things, at least I know a dozen "great" ingredients and hundreds of "fails." :-)
