I am so frustrated with myself. I've been kind of texlaxed since last summer. I decided I didn't like it anymore. I decided I would leave the relaxer in for the entire 20 minutes this time instead of 12-15 which is my usual. Anyway, my cheap timer broke. So I timed the relaxer in my head. Only I think I timed it for too long. I'm afraid all my hard work is in vain. I keep waking up thinking my hair will have fallen out.:( I had to put this on the board because nobody in the outside world will care. They think I'm crazy. I hope I'm just being paranoid. We shall see.

Hello Ariana,

You are probably okay. How long did you leave it on? At your next shampoo, do a deep conditioning treatment and then a week later, try a light protein (Nexxus Emergencee) treatment to help revitalize your hair if it feels week or damaged.

That should help restore moisture and strength.

25 minutes is not terribly long especially if you do it yourself.

I did my mom's relaxer on Friday and it was on for 25 mins and she came out fine. She was about 16 weeks post relaxer and her hair is above shoulder length. I had to apply it and work it in. I don't know how some of the girls put a perm on their entire head and process within 15 mins because I did it for her and I have been doing my own perm for years. Her hair is bone straight but its okay because she was a little underprocessed in some areas from trying to do it herself. She had little to no breakage.
