Hi guys -- I texlaxed about 5 weeks ago and I still haven't gotten the hang of caring for my new hair texture. I figured I would ask the texlaxing experts some questions in hopes of gaining some insight:

1. what products are you using? my hair seems to be CONSTANTLY dry! i was tempted to buy some oyin products but i'm not sure if they'll work for texlaxed locks.

2. how often are you washing your hair? i was trying to wash it every day but my hair got really dry and tangled - it felt like straw!! i've cut back to once or twice a week which has helped the straw feeling go away (too bad, i love daily cowashing).

3. how can you find your line of demarcation? i know thats silly but i want to see how much NG i have - i'm trying to wait 3 months or until i get 3 inches of NG before i texlax again.

4. can you use caruso rollers on texlaxed hair?

When I had natural hair, I would seriously just wash my hair with any old thing, do a shake and go and keep moving. I feel like I have to spend more energy on my hair, which I don't mind. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to improve the health of my hair.

Aubrey Shampoos and mostly domincan/spanish conditioners Alter Ego and Salerm Wheat germ are my favorites.

I wash once a week

I know it's time to text when it start to become difficult to comb out even under running water and a wide toothed comb.

My textures are hard to discern because they are pretty close, but somehow I manage to get it right. I usually relax close to wash day because the real new growth is much more drawn up so I can see it. I also protect what I know has been processed with silk protien.

I've wondered about the caruso's. I doubt they would work if all of your hair is texted. Water is going to make it wave and draw up.

Hope this helps some. Good luck!

1. I use Nexxus Theratin & Humectin to poo and DC. I like to add in castor oil, honey, coconut milk, and amla oils to my prepoos and DCs (not all at once). I also use J/A/S/O/N's Sea Kelp poo and con on occasion. I've been using Suave to clarify (once a month). I use Giovanni Direct as my leave-in, and I use African Pride Blends Soy Replenisher as a moisturizer during the week in conjunction with my homemade moisture spritz.

2. I wash & DC every 5-7 days.

3. I can see it really well when my hair wet. When it's dry, it's tough to find but if I stretch my hair out, I can see it.

4. Yes, Isis and others use carusos on texlaxed hair and love them.
