I successfully texlaxed!

TRANSITION OVER! 11-22-14
I felt the need to change my hair and the direction it was taking. I had been thinking about texlaxing, but I wanted also to keep my curls. My first experiment went bust because I brushed in the relaxer. This time, I left in in for about 2 minutes and rinsed it out. The result is more curl definition, and less product needed on my hair. It definitely cut my styling time, which is really funny cause my hair is still short. The best thing is my hubby really likes it. ;) So do I. My hair is still curly, so I got the best of the deal. I haven't tried to straiten it yet, so, I couldn't tell ya. I still have my natural texture, so I'm happy. Just thought I'd share. I'll be posting my pics soon.... I used Revlon Realistic, why is a lye relaxer. I mixed it w castor oil and Jamaica & lime island oil. I think this mix is a winner. I'll be texlaxing every 6 months...or longer, if I can.

The same thing I was thinking, lol, I also think that is the best thing about hair, you have the option of changing it whenever and however you choose, :D CONGRATS!!!!

You always have something going on with that hair of yours, lol ;)

One quick question...If you are applying a perm product, how does your hair retain it's natural texture? Is this possible, b/c I may be interested....

Yeh, and thank God for options! Anyhow, my trial and mostly errors have helped me in the long run. I can always look to the board for advice and inspiration. That's why I love this site.

so u mixed the relaxer with oils? how much oil, and did u do section by section? i have a head full of thick stuff, with 4 or 5 diffrent textures..i wounder how i could go about it...

Congratulations on your success! Your post is right on time because I've been transitioning for four months and although I LOVE my new natural hair, I'm not liking the two extreme texture differences. I'm getting a texturizer tonight and hopefully it will help bridge the gap between my natural roots and relaxed ends. Anything to keep from doing the BC!

I'm glad to hear you can successfully texturize at home! Thanks for your post!

I know you're talking to the OP but just wanted to say that when I texturized this was a big issue because the different textures do need different times. So you really have to relax in sections when you have multiple textures and it can be tedious, plus no matter what the different textures will still look different even when texturized. Some of my hair was very curly, some was still kinky looking just a little softer.

I didn't leave the perm on long enough to straiten my hair. I just applied it and 2 minutes later washed it out. :D I say that I retained my natural texture because my hair basically still looks like it's natural and acts natural. The difference is that I need less product and time to do my wash n gos. I can now part my hair with ease, which is something that I couldn't do with my natural hair. I've yet to try to straiten it, but I've been heat free fot 2 years.Maybe I'll straiten in a month or 2 to see what it looks like. I hope I answered your question.
