Hi Ladies,

I haven't been on in a while again, but I wanted to let my hair sisters know that I'm finally taking the dive and starting school next week. I'm very excited. It's going to take me 9 months....so I should be done sometime in January of next year. It will be very interesting to go considering all that I know about healthy hair practices from 6 years on the board. I'm hoping I won't have to disagree with the teacher too much :lachen:.

Anyway eventually my goal is to open my own "LHCFesque" salon, which will be totally inspired the women of LHCF.

I honestly believe that if it wasn't for this board, I wouldn't have found my true calling in life. I am forever indebted to you all.

Congratulations! Hopefully i'll be right behind you. I've been doing hair since I was 12, and have always wanted to attend school. The boards have been a godsend to me as well. Good Luck to you!

I can tell you that you will disagree with the teacher, especially if she is black. But don't worry about all that. Just learn everything according to the textbook definition. At the end of the day, you have to pass that board exam. It doesn't matter what you think, the textbook.

COngrats! I can't wait until I get my chance to finish! What kind of school are you going to? (Tech, major hair school i.e. Paul Mithchell, Dudley?)

congrats! i start tomorrow. i am going into esthetics program. girl we can go into business together! what made you decide to go? what school are you going to and after you finish, what will you specialize in?

Yeay! another bite the dust. I'm so happy when I hear an LHCF lady decide to get licenced. We need more stylists who is all about hair care instead of hair do.

I think LHCF members that go on to get licensed become the BEST trained and informed professionals! Congratulations and best of luck!

Congratulations and all the best to you! I look forward to seeing what God has in store for you!

Congrats!!! I'm half way through my program at Empire and the book work is nothing....most of the stuff you probably already know!!!

Best of luck to you!!!
You will disagree with 65% of what they teach you b/c of all of the hairboard hair care knowledge

congrats!!!!
that is so funny i was just wondering if i wanted to go back to college or hair school this fall. still not sure.

Congrats to all the ladies going to hair school, in hair school or just finished. A special shout out to all of us who are already licensed.

I've been licensed for about ummm lets see, well since 95' and man I wish I could have came across something like this then, but it's never to late to learn.

I would just love to see more LHCF ladies out there educating on what's really going on with this hair biz.

As long as your heart is in it and stay true to the game. You'll be alright.

Personnally, I've been thinking about dealing with the kids. The hair care needs to start young and educating the parents......hmmm I'm thinkin!!I'm thinkin!!

Congratulations!

I've been toying around with the idea of doing the same now that I've graduated from college. I have the same idea as you OP, to open an LHCF-friendly salon. I'm sure we'll both reach our goals. =]
