1. I purchased only the cheapest shampoo usually .99 (white rain, st. ives or v05)
2. I curled my hair every morning and I knew I'd have a banging curl if I heard a nice sizzle and got some good steam.
3. Squeaky clean was a good thang
4. Deep conditioners at the salon were reserved for special, special occasions.
5. I loved to pick the scabs out of my head after a "good" relaxer.
6. I never oiled my scalp, that would put a damper on the body.
7. Dirty hair made your hair grow

hehe... I remember when

1. I would let my cousin grease my scalp with a pound and a half or dax
2. I would perm every 4 1/2 to 5 weeks cuz my hair was too nappy
3. I washed my hair whenever i felt like it (hardly ever)
4. Slicking on mad gel and grease and pulling it back into an "oh so tight" ponytail was on point (tho not much hair stuck out of it)
5. I couldn't figure out why my hair wouldn't grow! I combed and brushed an messed with it all day!

1. I would brush with the hardest bristles just to make my hair shine.

2. Relax the entire length of hair to get it bone-straight.

3. That Doo-Doo Brown gel was my best friend.

4. I only washed my hair every two weeks.

5. I applied a Jet-Black rinse EVERY month.

6. I didn't use neutralizing shampoo.

7. I wore my ponytails really, really tight.

8. Spritz was a major staple in my haircare products.

9. I went over the same curl 3 times with the hot curlers.

Good thread...

1. I flatironed my hair with the Gold n' Hot flat iron EVERY day

2. I would wash my hair whenever I felt like it (maybe every 2 weeks, maybe every 2 months
frown.gif
)

3. I used a brush with the hardest bristles (my husband calls them "Dog Brushes")

4. I would wear braids and keep them in for 4+ months and only wash them once (maybe twice)

5. I wouldn't always use conditioner (and forget about DEEP conditioning)

Crys, I think you are my exbf little sister.
She used to do that ALL of the time. I was like why are you rinsing your hair w/ black? Why are putting all that gel in your hair? I think I got on her nerves though.

I'm glad to hear all of this ladies. There is hope for all of our sisters.

finger waves, and I had the nerve to keep the style for two weeks. ICK!

Hmph. Come to think of it. I've come a long way too.

1) I thought women sleeping w/scarves was stupid and I just slept with my hair loose.

2) I also thought squeaky clean after a shampoo was for the best.

3) The more grease, the better.

4) I slept in hard rollers!! Never mind my hair was snapping every time I switched positions! And I never got a good nights sleep!

5) Curled my hair on the highest setting, preferably #20.

I'm sure there is more.....this is quite enough for now.

1. Flex was my favourite conditioner. Smelled like heaven and made my hair thicker.

2. Washing my hair once every 2 weeks.

3. Being embarressed when I was one of the only girls left at a salon with a curly perm and everyone else had relaxers.

4. When first relaxed hair, using any old cream on the ends, thinking it was protecting the ends from curling irons.

5. That very first time I had a relaxer and couldn't BELIEVE I had hair that moved!!!!!
shocked.gif
Will never forget that first time feeling.

6. I didn't know how to look after relaxed hair and experimenting with rollars using the wrong type (with teeth that tangled my hair) and sitting under a crappy old dryer for 3 hours. (Yep).

7. The first time I went to a Dominican salon for a rollarset. I nearly fell off the chair at the result.

8. Wondering how to deal with shedding hair and exercising. That was a hard time. I stopped working out just to 'save' my hair.

9. La India Hair Pomade used when growing up as a kid to grease my scalp.

10. I never heard of pre oil treatments, conditioner only washes, wide tooth combs, hair vitamins.

i washed my hair every 2 wks
i slept on cotton pillow cases

i kept my hair dry like the sahara
i never paid any attention to the damage i was causing my hair.

I used to pour shampoo down the drain so my mom wouldn't know I wasn't using it
shocked.gif
... I always knew it dried out my hair and now that I have outside proof I no longer feel guilty for not using it. Ashley

8. Blow drying way to much, and didn't care how much hair I was losing!
9. Not using a wide tooth comb while combing through my hair. No wonder I never saw any length
whyme.gif
.
10. Only using a conditioner once in a while, and when I did I would put it on my hair and rinse it out immediatley, never allowing it too sit & deep condition.

3. Washing my hair once every month or two.

4. Brushing and combing my hair all rough, and not caring how much hair would come out because it was just the "old hair."

5. Hating conditioner and not using it because it held me up and took extra time.

6. After washing my hair, not putting anything on it, and my hair would be so dry, it looked like hay.

7. After washing my hair, just not knowing what to do with it period!

)
