Ok, so I am almost at the end of my pregnancy and for those of you who have children know that at this point in the game, you want to do something new to your hair. I definatly want to stay natural so a relaxer isn't in the mix and I DEFINATLY don't want to cut it so I figured my next bet is to color it. I have been seeing something about henna in peoples fotki albums. Does it really work and will it be noticable in my jet black hair? How does it work? Is it exspensive? As you can see, I am clueless on this subject so could somebody clue me in? TIA!

Oh you are good, cause at the end of my pregnancy, I was not concerned with how my hair looked. All I wanted was to get that child out of me. Now don't get me wrong, I didn't want to look toe-up during delivery, but for the most part, I kept my hair in a bun on pony. Now the last time I went to the doctor to get some things checked out, I was not prepared and they ended up keeping me to induce me. I had NO scarf, NO scrunchie, NO hair supplies...I was just there. When it was time to push, I was trying to slick my hair back. After I had my son, I looked over at daddy and I saw he had some rubber bands around his wrist. I was furious!!! He knew I didn't have anything to tie my hair back with and all along he had them beige rubber bands around his wrist. I wanted to cut him for having me look crazy during the delivery.

With all that said...girl, get you some braids or something. :look:

Nah....I don't want braids. I couldnt afford braids even if I did want them. These people down here are charging $90 and up just for CORNROWS going strait back! Now thats Manhatten prices and I am living in SC. Gimme a break! No...I don't wanna go the braid route.

Well, w/ the henna, I don't know too much about it. I know that you shouldn't use it if you have a chemical color in your hair. It will literally melt your hair off. You can check out Pookeylou's album off Fotki, or on Np. She has a henna demonstration. I don't know if it will lighten the color, but I know that it did cover her grays. I know that you said that you aren't into braids right now, but beware w/ the color. It's gonna require extra conditioning. Why not just twist up, and curl them, or crimp them? Or buy some accessories from the dollar store to dress it up. Check out the hair albums on line. I know that NP has many naturals hair albums. I have a bunch of them in my friends list. I can shoot you some names to check out if you would like. Just let me know.
