My scalp has been really dry lately. Even after I shampoo my scalp is still dry and flaky. I have been looking for a scalp leave-in that will keep my scalp moisturized, and not greasy. I have been looking for that Jamaican Mango & Lime cactus oil serum. But my main BSS store Sally's has again let me down. Everytime I go there looking for something they have discontinued it. But what really makes me mad is that it just happens to get discontinued after I have came in and walked past it 50 times. I just bought an aloe vera plant. Then I was looking up the benefits of aloe vera. And I read that aloe has salycic (sp?) acid, sulfur, etc in it. I did not know that. So I was thinking about just rubbing pure aloe on my scalp. But I read somewhere that you should use the gel from the rind and not the leaves, I'm so confused!!!

But the question I want answered is what is everyone using on their scalps?
FYI I'm natural and my type is 4a.

in my experiences stopping the use of shampoo...overtime...it wasnt an over nite thing...stopped my scalp from flaking up....research conditioner washes on the board...

as far as aloe vera...well i dont know...im sure someone else will chime in ;)

I don't use anything on my scalp, but I did experience some serious flaking, which I thought was product-related. It turns out that it was actually allergies.

During that time, I used a carrier oil (almond, grapeseed, or coconut oil) with a couple drops of rosemary, a couple drops of lavendar and used a q-tip to apply to my scalp. This relieved my dryness and promoted good growing.

Whenever my scalp gives me problems I use a mixture of 100% aloe vera gel, water(a little bit) & carrier oils (almond, grapeseed & castor oils) I use it a couple a times a week when needed HTH

i have a spritz that i make with water, tea tree oil and rosemary EO....thats what makes my scalp stop flaking....

I use to have this very same problem. I stopped washing my hair with shampoo & grease and started taking Flaxseed oil and my scalp and skin are doing great. :woot:

I do conditioner washes only.

Take a look at All About The Hair's Thread in the Hair Recipe Forum titled "Mint Hair Tonic." This is what I do and it really works when it get the itchies. :yep:

What shampoo are you using? The detergent my be too high for you.
