I do my braids like this and there is always a gap between the two braid in the back and it's hard for me to blend the two sections.

What I do is a zig zag part instead of a straight past makes it easier to blend

You should! and practice makes perfect. :yep: French braids and cornrows take a long time to master, especially on yourself.

I prefer braidouts that look more like this. http://youtu.be/k0_q-UaG6_w
She has different hair and her braids are much smaller but I like the pattern that she used because the results were a more uniform wave down the length of her hair.

Hers looks awesome, yep! I think the reason I go for the look of the one I posted more is because it's looser than my wash n' go's cuz like I can get a similar look to the lady you posted with a wng so when I do a braid out I'm going for a different look than my natural curls so I like the big waves of the 2 French braids. It's a matter if preference I guess but I do adore both looks!

Wow! That's a beautiful braidout! But if I braided my hair down to the very ends :nono: I'd have knots waiting on me. I'd definitely have to use satin ribbons on the ends. I'ma try it tho....one of these days.

wavezncurlz What products do you use? I wear my hair in 2 french braids sometimes but the front of my hair is all frizzy. I use water mixed with braid spray (helps detangle), seal with oil then apply a cream (Darcy's Botanicals Curl Styling Leave In Creme). I wear headbands to hide the frizziness.

Wow I love her hair. I just watched all her videos. I wish I could braid. Thanks for sharing!

i stumbled across her videos a few weeks ago. i love her hair, even though she's trying to recover from damage. she has my ideal length and volume.

Hey isawstars
I use natural butters and sometimes kinkycurly to deal with the front. I also use a silk scarf to lay it down as I drive into my commute. I must admit that that picture is a few years old - I have more grays in the front and they DO.NOT.BEHAVE. They have a life of their own and I just deal with the fuzzies.

I love your siggie pictures. Beautiful hair!

Unfortunately I have to braid my hair whilst it is soaking wet and in about 12 braids otherwise it's break city. Which is why it takes about 4 days for my braidouts to stretch out.
My hair would cry if I did 2 big braids on dry hair.

My braidouts don't come anywhere close to being this nice. Her hair looks great!

Gorgeous. My hair is nowhere that lovely but next time I do a braid out i'll try just two cornrows and maybe it'll look 25% as nice. Thanks for posting that :)

Is she relaxed, texturized or natural? I can achieve the "before" look with tension drying and a blow dryer. My braid outs doesn't look as good, but I may try this in a few months after I get past the winter hair hibernation (buns).

ETA: I just looked at the homepage of her channel, she's natural. :)

Can you do three braids instead of 2? 2 on the sides and 1 in the middle, that way you won't have the separation in the back.

Yea she's natural, she says on her vids that she's heat damaged.

her texture is similar to mine, I love her twist out :) I think she used a little too much gel on the crown area though but it's full and fab. I just subscribed :)

I used to do this all of the time prior to my last BC. I didn't have the spongey thing for the end of my hair and tucked it in and then used a small rubberband to secure it.
